Rusty Tailgate

Morning fowks, needing to remove the rust from the tailgate but it may be cheaper to replace the whole tailgate. Question - does the mk 2 1Z5 tailgate fit the 1U5? If note, anyone know one for sale just now!?

Completely different, if you can’t source a MK1 then get yours repaired.

I have exactly the same problem with my black VRS estate and have yet to find a replacement. Taking it to my local coachworks soon to see what sort of price they will give me for the repair.

My Estate tailgate has gone the same way, my painter has said it will cost about £200, no mater if i get a second hand one or he repaints mine

Is that just for the painting work or does it cover drive-in/drive-out?
