Boot tray...but which one?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just looking for your advice please.

Picked up my new superb se l yesterday (saloon) 2.0 TDI.

I've looked on many different places including the ones suggested in threads here.

I'm looking to buy a protective cover for the boot but all the ones I can see seem to be for cars with a variable floor in the raised position.

My car doesn't have this, and the boot is deep with a 6 inch drop which I don't see in any of the pictures selling these things.

This place seem to have a good selection but I'm confused if I have a limousine or combi? Anyone else recently picked up a new 2020 version and can advise?

Other things I have noticed....the CF card slot has gone, there is also no detachable torch in the boot, and I'm sure there should be a USB charging point in the rear but I only have a 12v.

There is though a usb c in the front.

Thanks all

I looked into the names and it's kinda interesting to see how they change.

Saloon/Hatchback/Limousine in Germany/Sedan in the US. This is what you have.

Estate/Combi/Station Wagon in the US. "Kombi" in Germany is short for Kombinationskraftwagen ("combination motor vehicle").

As for the boot tray, are you looking for carpet or rubber?

I've kept my eye on this rubber one, I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I like using those floor wedges https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142315298488

If you're after carpet, there are various websites like say https://www.carmats-uk.com/cmbm/skoda/superb/769?product=standard-1

Thank you both.

That looks a good buy, the one on eBay. And definitely after a rubber one.

This one looks decent. Just again in the pictures it shows it up to boot level but I know that won't be in mine.

Hi, I've just sold my 2018 Superb Hatchback with the high boot lip, as you are describing.

I have the Roofbox boot cover, as per your second link, that I'm now looking to sell. It fits perfectly in the boot and has the detachable flap that you pull out to protect the bonnet when loading and unloading.

If you're interested, I can see how much postage would be, or if you are ever down near Southampton, you could collect.

Hey @budster

Thanks for the offer, but I actually clicked the order button yesterday and have the roofbox one incoming! It seemed to me to have a good deal of positive reviews and backed up by decent warranty.

Good luck in selling it! looks like it's pretty much indestructible so should get a fair price for it.

Cheers again, I'm in Swindon so it wouldn't have been too far either!

Ah, nevermind, too slow. The one from Roofbox has been good, it does feel good quality and doesn't stink of rubber (because it's not, it's some sort of coated plastic that provides a grippy surface).

I was planning on listing it on the Sales part of the forum but apparently, I need to be a paid member to do that so it'll be going on Gumtree or Ebay.

If anyone else reading this is interester, please send me a message through the forum.

Hi Budster,

do you know if the boot liner you have fits the estate?

As both cars are the same length I assume its the same floor size/shape, just the height that's different?

If you post the model of the liner that you have I might be interested.

Only had the car 2 weeks and, even though I use a cage, there's dogs hairs everywhere already.

If you look on the Roofbox site you can see that the dimensions are different between Saloon & Estate

Saloon = 1190MM * 1050MM

Estate = 1200MM * 1080MM

Based on that I don't think you would get the nice perfect fit that this liner gives, I can confirm that I've received mine and that it's excellent.

OK, Thanks anyway.

Hi, it is the "Carbox Form S boot liner, black, for Skoda Superb saloon 2015on" that I have.

AFAIK, the boot size in estate vs hatch is very similar, the difference is the load lip. The hatchback has quite a high lip and therefore the boot liner has a raised edge all the way round (of about 5cm) whereas the estate one has a flat section at the front because it assumes there is a level loading area.

I suppose this will depend if you have the variable boot floor.

Couple of pictures attached to show it in the car, although hard to see the lip.
