Superb rattle noise

Featured Replies

Well I don’t think Skoda are going to do anything about this as they can’t hear it when they take it in so might have to go to another garage or worst have to sell. This video is a bit clearer if anyone has any ideas

thanks

There are various sounds in the clip.  Anything in particular that we should be hearing?  You might want to point out at what time in the clip the sound occur.

Is yours a 190 TSI or TDI?

sorry to come in on this (as I'm a Octavia owner), but my Scout is making the exact same noise.

I've put in for warranty work - I ~think~ it is a failed belt tensioner.  You will find the problem goes away when its wet outside and you can still hear it when the car is standing still and idling.  It comes and it goes....right???

Thought it was suspension noise, but not the case when the car is not moving.

You can hear it from 4 seconds in. It’s the rattle noise I am referring to. I know the video isn’t great .... really hard to film in.

it’s the 190 TDI

Thanks

I have to admit I can’t hear it when the car is not moving. Seems to be there when you go over bumps and that’s it. I wish it was something like that, would make my life so much easier haha

Arh, well - the other potential is the top of the macpherson struct.  It can squeak and carry on, so if you can get into the struct top; use some Lithium grease, that maybe the other location of the problem.

I have it booked in at a specialist so I am hoping they can fix it. I have another video when you turn the steering wheel there is a knock so I have no idea if that has anything to do with it! Loosing the will haha we have only had the car a month

Don’t think I can hear the noise. The clicking noise is when we turn the wheel

ooohh - that metallic 'clank' does not sound good.  Definately time for visit to dealer on that one.  I'm sad to report I don't have that noise and haven't heard that one before.

Hazarding a guess; a ball-joint that is not in the best of health.

Worrying that Skoda can’t hear it and says there is nothing wrong ..... sent them the videos but no reply yet. That’s why I am sending it to a specialist. Fingers are crossed
