2020 Superb exhaust flaps?

Featured Replies

Does the 2020 Superb have a valved exhaust?

Is it possible to replace the exhaust with a valved one?

I think the valved exhausts were discontinued with the introduction of the 272 GPF engined model, which has a slight burbke/waffle on tick over, but you need to stand behind it to hear it!

Yep, I can hear that.

Do you know if it is possible to have a valved exhaust? Like if I put it in sport mode then it opens the flaps?

Ahhhh ! Did someone mention exhaust flaps ?

Also going to do the following

  • New Intercooler + pipes.
  • DSG cooler
  • JB4
  • Air intake system
  • Turbo muffler delete

The nice thing about this exhaust is that the tailpipes looks like OEM ones. Very cool!

But, with a catless downpipe and no center resonator I think that exhaust flaps will only allow you to choose between the loud mode or the louder mode...

Why DSG cooler? I think that your DQ381 will support easily a stage 2 setup like this with a simple remap. But let me know if there is some other reason, if so it could interest me...

Yep, I would like to keep it as stock looking as possible. I was going to go with the 200 cat downpipes not catless.
Here is a video of the exhaust setup I'm thinking about -

Here is the part I was looking at for the DSG cooling

this is exactly what i meant with loud/louder but thinking about a catless downpipe. And the one in the video is even catted! And I'm not for all these crackles and dsg farts...

But hey cool that there are other Skoda Superb petrolheads around the world! ;)

(And cool rear bbk in the video thumbnail)

:) I like the crackles, but I hope this only happens in sport mode/flaps open.

It would be great if when they are closed it sounds stock and then you put it in sport and it sounds like that video.... :tongueout:

what is BBK?

big brake kit, till now i've only seen kits for replacing discs whit bigger ones but made for oem calipers. this one seem to be a 4 pot caliper..

I guess that will be something to add to the list...

I think from memory Revo do a BBK to fit the Superb. I think they use Alcon bits for a lot of their upgrades.

As Roscio said, make sure the sound is still bearable when you want it to be before splashing out the cash for a valved system like this. A couple of Youtube clips might seem exciting when you listen to them from your computer, but it can be quite different living with such a car on a daily basis, depending on your noise and comfort tolerance...

Also, I am not aware of anyone "needing" to run a DSG cooler, especially for street use, and i've seen probably over a hundred tuned Golf R's, Cupras and S3's over the last 5 years running some serious torque, way above a JB4 or even a full stage 2 without issues in DSG cooling. The item says it's compatible with 7R and Cupra 5F which makes me think it means the DQ250 gearbox rather than the DQ381 in your car (maybe it's compatible with that too though).

In any case, I doubt this DSG cooler has a good reason to be in the mod list of anyone not running a big turbo AND spending hours on the racetrack thrashing it, and even then, an upgraded oil management system like this: https://www.racingline.com/vwr13g700  is of much more importance.

If you're starting to find your way around tuning, (or at least in this platform)  that's fine, but my advice is make your research and cross-check thoroughly anything you come across, as there's plenty of items that might look cool but you won't ever really need for the type of driving you'd be doing, and don't hesitate to question stuff, this engine and gearbox have been around for a while so there's good knowledge and advice to be shared by people who've tuned their cars through various stages already, and welcome!

Is there a price anywhere for that, quite tempted myself now 👍

I have to jump in to clarify....MY19 272s have flaps 🧐🤣

(It still makes no odds to the sound of course!)

It should be on the list...but for the front!

Every MQB chassis bbk will (should) fit on Superb, so there are several kits to choose from. But these are only for the front.

Vagbremtechnic has a rear bbk, but it's made for oem calipers (like this one).

Not all MY19 have flaps, my MY19 has not, built 02/19.

Only the early 272s have flaps, the ones built till 10-11/18.

Ah sorry @Roscio! @Nick_H and I love this topic :D

I am much more disappointed with the lack of the MPI rather than the exhaust valve. But I don't think you have that either @boydeee @Nick_H ...or am I wrong!?!? 🧐

You are correct. That was removed unfortunately :o I presume it was a cost saving exercise!

All 280s have MPI and flaps. Some 272s have flaps.

Mine even have mud flaps!

Okay, thanks for the info.

Yes and I'm sure my partner wouldn't appreciate driving around in it if it sounded like that all the time.

Yep, I will definitely check. There is no point in changing something that isn't needed. I think for now I will order the JB4 first and see how I get on with that.

You could try something simple like a resonator delete first to see how that goes. May give you enough more audible noise for now

I spoke to the guy from TNEER and he said the valved exhaust would work because you can control the flaps from an app they have created.

Not the best solution in my opinion  as I think it would be better if it switched when you went into sport mode but I guess it's better then having an obnoxious noise all the time :D

What are the control arms like on this car? Can you upgrade them or is it not worth it?  My brother changed them on him BMW M5 and he said the difference was night and day.
