2020 Superb exhaust flaps?

I spoke to the guy from TNEER and he said the valved exhaust would work because you can control the flaps from an app they have created.

Not the best solution in my opinion  as I think it would be better if it switched when you went into sport mode but I guess it's better then having an obnoxious noise all the time :D

What are the control arms like on this car? Can you upgrade them or is it not worth it?  My brother changed them on him BMW M5 and he said the difference was night and day.

Did he tell you the price? :blush   Asking only out of curiosity as personally I'd never be able to justify a few thousand EUR simply for more noise, there's much more important (to me) mods before that in my list.

As for control arms, yes there exist upgraded ones that allow camber and caster improvement (used on the MQB Golf GTI/R) but it's probably one of the last items to upgrade, and still, only worth it in my opinion if you were tracking the car.

I would start from a rear anti-roll bar, springs & shocks or coilovers as those can provide significant handling improvement before moving to items like camber plates and control arms. The more you mod, the less improvement you see and the more specialized the item is. The M5 is a very different car (obviously) so different mods have different impact and a different approach/mod order is probably needed so not a direct comparison really. You need to address the issues that are bigger on this platform that might not be as big or present at all in other platforms.

Cool thanks for the links!

I am still waiting on a price as TNEER told me to contact a distributer in the Czech Republic, but I haven't heard from them... so TNEER told me they will make a quote for me.

Did you experience any issues with servicing/warranty with the JB4?

What is on your mod list?

You mean the links in my signature? :tongueout:  They are always there, but no worries! Maybe you find something useful there.

My "necessary mods" for this car, with order of importance and value for money are:

POWER:

1) Stage 1
2) Nothing... (because the next best mod is already far far less value for the money spent)
3) Downpipe & Stage 2 (this is not possible yet with most tuners as they don't offer a stage 2 map for these GPF cars but they say that they are working on it...)
4) Intake & Turbo inlet pipe
5) Intercooler
6) Burn money (meaning: Bigger Turbo kit with upgraded fuel pumps etc. etc.

CHASSIS & Handling:

1) Rear anti-roll bar
2) Eibach springs or even better: KW V2
3) Wider, lightweight alloys (at most 10-11kg)
4) Nothing
5) Camber plates, Lower control arms, aluminium sub-frame
6) Remaining bushes?? (not even sure what is available) But seriously at this point, with a Superb, you'd better be taking it to the track every week-end, otherwise just stop already :D

Jb4 is removable although a bit of a pain the a$$ to do every time, I only did remove the unit and left some of the cables in when I still had it, no warranty issues, it's practically impossible to prove it was there as the ECU does not see (let alone store) the increased fueling and boost.

Hey, what about brakes!? ;)

You could try something simple like a resonator delete first to see how that goes. May give you enough more audible noise for now

@skodamax if you want more sound I would give you the same advice too, go for a resonator delete, for now.

Apart from the sound you want, I think that a stage 1 map is the best value for money you go for, like @newbie69 told in his power mod list. Beyond stage 1 you will spend more and more but power gains will be far lower than what you get with a stage1 map.

Absolutely brakes are a great upgrade, especially after power and chassis mods that change the way you use the car, I just could not put them in any of the two categories, lol

When mines out of warranty it’s getting an R600 air box with foam filter, intake pipe and elbow, stage 1 Revo, possibly resonator delete and I need to sort my suspension as it’s horrendously crashy and not very well controlled at all. (Think, small ruts feel like driving off a cliff)

Forgot, it’ll be getting EBC discs (maybe BSD’s or similar) and yellowstuff pads.
if I want more than that, I’ll just nip down the shops and buy an RS6 Avant

He got back to me today. It is round £2000 for the Mid Pipe + Rear Mufflers (EV) + Dual Hand Crafted Silver Tips + TACS(TNEER App Control System) and then £200 for the shipping.

Nice list! I'm going to take mine to have the JB4 installed and put on a dynamometer before I do anything else.

When did you have your first oil change? This place is recommending me to do it before I install the JB4. I've only done around 10,000 km and the car says I don't need an oil change for another 20,000 km which seems like a long time?

Sounds about right. Personally it's not a price I'd be interested in paying especially for this car/engine, meaning they can only sound as good no matter the mods but I understand that not everyone shares the same ideas and priorities. Something else to consider: your car has the new GPFs on which are only making matters worse (in terms of muting the exhaust noise and dsg farts) and even with an upgraded cat-back like the one you're looking at they will remain on the car...

An easier way to get more noise AND bhp at the same time would be an upgraded downpipe with DPF delete, that will open up the exhaust noise let alone it would be a whole new car power wise, if coupled with a stage 2 map of-course.

My first oil change was a bit before I hit 10K, I did it myself as I also had this silly schedule which makes absolutely no sense, especially for tuned cars.

I ordered the rear anti-roll bar today, and the KW DDC suspension :D

I've also booked it in to have a JB4 fitted + rolling road.

I think this will keep me going for now...

KW DDC :inlove:  Some serious upgrade there, together with the arb I thick the handling result will be shocking (in a positive way) and together with the JB4 I bet you'll be looking for better brakes within the next months :D

Can you PLEASE report back on your findings about the KW in particular??

This is what I ordered. https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/kw-vw-skoda-3v5-3g5-ddc-plug-play-coilovers-inox-superb-iii-estate-passat-variant?_pos=1&_sid=298460b53&_ss=r

I guess the part number is 39080041

Will do! Did you consider the ABT box instead of the JB4? It looks like they will provide a warranty...

Not really, they provide less gains for a higher price, plus they offer limited features compared to the JB4 which is tried and tested on this platform.

Just a question, since you are investing in an expensive coilover set I assume you plan to stick with the car for some time, in that case doesn't it make sense to go with an ECU remap?

I thought the JB4 would be better for now. It has a 4 year warranty and If I need to take it in for a service or warranty issue I thought I could remove the JB4 and I may get away with it

I will look forward to your impressions!

I finally got round to having this fitted along with the rear ARB.

Wow! The difference it makes is huge!

In the bends the car feels so much more confident and planted, less like a boat.

I felt like there was a "crashing" noise with the stock suspension, this has gone.

The guys who fitted the new suspension lowered the car to the lowest setting. Seems to be okay for now, I have experienced no scraping yet and it looks pretty good.

Now I need to get the JB4....

@skodamax I was about to order the same kit just these days.
So in the lowest setting it means -50mm if I'm not mistaken right?
In my case I thought that even -30mm (the minimum) would be too low.
How does it work with the sport / normal / comfort driving modes? does the dcc work as the original?

can you share some photos?

It looks like they have a range of 35-60mm on the front and 20-45mm on the rear.

I have it set to 40mm on the front and 45mm on the rear.

The ddc works as before and I have seen no error codes yet!

I got around to taking the car for the JB4 install. Pretty happy with the results, the car feels so much better now :D

Interestingly, the car was a little bit over 272 bhp stock
