Need to replace my aerial - which do I need?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I am missing satellites and using a spare one in the window. I want to replace the aerial on the roof as I don't like the stick on aerial.

I have GPS, GSM and I also have a TV in my car; does that mean I have a DAB aerial? I'd like to fit a DAB aerial for adding one to my android head unit.

My google-fu is failing me on this one?

Thanks

You'll only have a DAB aerial if your original headunit was a DAB one.
You can buy either a replacement roof mount one with DAB (it's simply an additional cable coming from it) or get one that sticks to the windscreen etc.. DAB's nothing to do with missing satellites though, as that's your GPS.

I know DAB has nothing to do with the satellites in view, I need to replace the aerial due to the satellite receiver failing. If I'm going to replace the aerial I want to get the option with DAB (so that I can add a DAB receiver to the Android head unit I put in recently - as per my first post.....)

As I have an L&K I also have the freeview tv receiver in the boot; i'm not sure if this is a separate aerial or whether it uses the DAB aerial, It's not clear.

6R0035501D has AM/FM, DAB, GPS and GSM. Not sure where the TV receiver is but I don't think it's via the shark fin :/

Your TV tuner uses the same aerials as the FM/AM radio (in the side glass if it's an estate), which then feed the DVBT decoder in the boot, nothing to do with DAB.
As above, unless your original headunit had DAB then you won't have the DAB sharkfin. If you buy the one that does (which Langers has given the part number of) then you'll have an additional DAB Fakra connection which you'll then need to connect up to your android unit somehow.

That had the bee sting aerial, my current one doesn't have the bee sting. It's pure shark fin. Is there another one?

Not sure if Skoda/VW do a shark fin without a bee sting for DAB, GPS and GSM.

I can see variants for:

- 3C0035507N - GPS, GSM

- 3C0035507AA - GPS

- 1K0035507L - dummy with no connections!
