Sticking throttle pedal

Featured Replies

Another query.

I have noticed my throttle pedal has a distinct point in its operation where it stops with light pressure. You then need to push harder to allow you to get full throttle.

Has anyone seen this before??

I see yours is a manual, so it's probably something stuck under the pedal!  Carpet or some junk.  Get down and have a close look.

Noting stuck below the pedal I’m afraid. There is a definite click in the pedal mechanism through its movement towards full throttle.

If you're talking about the bump right before it hits the floor, that's the kickdown switch. Needless to say it's not relevant to manuals.

Cheers, I wonder can it be removed as it’s totally pointless and actually threw me for six the first time I needed WOT to pass a car.

I wonder if the same pedal is fitted to manuals and automatics?  Sounds as if it is.

The way the throttle pedal is setup you will have full throttle before the pedal even touches the kickdown switch.

I wish this was correct but it’s not as I tired this several times now and do not get WOT until I press through this switch. I first noticed it when I was overtaking a car on a country road and it wasn’t happening anywhere nearly quickly enough.

I mashed the pedal harder through the switch and it was a totally different car. I would even hesitate to say it’s actually a tad dangerous if truth be told, having to press through it.
