They said they  have perform this maintenance stating ' we have done this sort of services' day in day out and never have known of a Haldex/diff  crack like I have.

Enough is enough !

Will they be fitting a new or second hand differential JohnC?

As long as you dont buy the one that I have been following

Dear JR,

I'm still in discussion with the main dealer where the land lies and approaching a resolution. The option is there for a new or used.I'm not entirely sure as yet .

Ultimately I think you're going to need a report saying diff damage from lack of oil.

Would be interested in seeing decent pics of the drain plugs for the haldex and the rear diff. I bet the rear diff one will have witness marks showing it has been undone when it shouldn't have done.

Should get some pictures tomorrow.

The Servicing from new that matters is the Service and work done by their employee.     The last person to be inspecting the car visually and actually draining oil at the Haldex Unit, or was it the diff they touched.

Who did it and what their training and qualifications actually are and did they do it correctly.

Who cares if the person you talked to does not know of other failures, unless they happen to be a Master Technician with years of experience and good vision and memory.

just had a conversation with the main dealer that service my Yeti..They said more or less the Haldex cracked open or split..Stems from the  health of the car from new, if it was routinely service year in year out by changing pollen filter, engine oil checks, brake fluid change...

Were they intimating that had you had it regularly serviced by them the crack would not have appeared or that they would have seen it and reacted accordingly?

Double bullsh*t from me!!

I hope you get a satisfactory outcome & dont get fobbed off with a second hand diff unit, not that there would be anything wrong with it unless another "I dont care what hole I use" merchant has been at it, more that they should hit where it hurts them most to the maximum.

I think they knew straight away what they had done, it must be well known in their circles, that they wanted you to remove the car and said the service department was closed with immediate effect  sounded very very suspect.

Can a main dealer even operate without a service department?

Please excuse my ignorance

But from what you put in your opening post, you have had your car routinely serviced by the Skoda dealer. Are they trying to say you have had it serviced outside of the Skoda network?

Do excuse my French, 'pour quoi' are they keeping quiet on 2014 model gate ? Should it have been re-called

@John@C

Should what have been recalled?

There are no Recalls, there are Recall Actions & Service Campaigns.

?

Has your Yeti had issues before now?

http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

They are trying anything they can.

They will end up eventually trying the 'Gesture' of paying you paying a percentage of an over inflated cost.

As it is their insurers or them that can pay up 100% plus expenses incurred getting a report done if there was a error in their workshop by their employee or employees.

I purchased from another main dealer at the time plus two other Skoda cars Fabia and a Roomster in the span of 12 years.

They bought out that dealer and my account was transferred without  any hesitation until now. So the short answer is  no.

There have been no recalls for a Yeti of that age, so why do you think it should have been?

Is yours a petrol model? That recall only applies to the 1.2 TSI petrol (2wd) Yeti

From his opening post he drives a 2014 Yeti Outdoor SE 2.0.

Did they only make the 2.0L in a diesel?

Your own thread has now gone off at a tangent really.

Your issue is most likely the error of a technician or fitter and not a Fundamental Design or Manufacturing or materials fault.

Thanks, a good point

I suppose  I was asking a rhetorical question; that recall clearly states it only applies to 1.2 and 1.6 engines....

Remain focussed, dont allow yourself to be sidetracked by their bullsh*t, the more they produce stuff like that the more you should realise that you are on precisely the right trajectory and well they know it.

It was tow truck and winched on to the truck

Vehicle was not "towed" in the manner you believe.

It was a recovery truck then, not a tow truck.

I was worried at the time, so I agreed to cambelt

Now I realised,

Dear Urrell,

it was a RAC flatbed recovery  vehicle...they had to winch my broken down Yeti, using remote ..Apologies to have mention a towing truck for my earlier description.

I have called the RAC Care Legal team and had a  good conversation  with the call centre which is 24x7 btw.

They told me to draft the letter with the intent of legal route, quoting sections 23,10 & 49.

Booked my car in for an independant check/report for Monday.

Thank so much for the suggestions

For your information, steming from our replies...I have since cancelled my car insurance to RAC fully ,insuring my car and recovery and using their approved garage to sort out my dilemmas...Thank you for recommending me to contact them.

I'm having my second call with the main dealer escalation team at 3pm today.

Thanks again

@John@C   Best that you record that conversation and ask them to put what ever they have to say in writing.

?

Is this the Dealership Groups 'escalation team',  or Skoda UK's?

So they have an 'Escalation team' but were closing the Workshop.   Says a lot.    They might even have top lawyers but duff Technicians.
