Morning everyone. I've been running in my MK1 Vrs for nearly two months. Up till now I've used normal Shell/BP stuff. With just over 2K on the clock now I put in some Optimax and bloody hell, there is a difference. All my previous cars didn't feel any different. This really does have a bit more 'oomph' in the mid-range now. Mind you, at 102.9ppl, I on't be using it every time.

Lots of different opinions on this one, but I have used Tesco 99 Ron since it came out and really rate the stuff, others did not like it, but its a bit cheaper than 102.9p ltr, in Essex its still 98p ltr.

In general I find quality varies so much between petrol stations and even days of the week from the same petrol station, now I just usually get whatever from wherever when I need it! although I did buy some optimax a few weeks back, and since then my fuel economy seems to have gone up, even though I only used one tank of it. Maybe it does actually work to clean the engine afterall.

You're right about the difference in petrol quality. Mr brother in law works in refineries in France & Europe. He analysed petrol at the pumps and found there was diesel in petrol, vica versa and that supermarket stuff varies wildly. Now I just stick to branded names and things seem okay.
