engine died, battery light on

Featured Replies

Since last December the engine has been in constant limp mode, cannot find the cause, turbo replaced in 2015.

Last Monday (a week ago), drove up a hill slightly strange noises from engine then smoke from under bonnet with a strong burnt rubber smell.

Though it was the auxiliary belt and one of the components it drives as the smoke was in that area, but the garage could find no problem.

This afternoon, driving on flat road at 45MPH and the engine died, battery light on. Pulled over and it restarted.

There is the three beeps comes on infrequently, which can be a number of things I think?

Checked the battery with the engine off: 13.1V

Ignition on: 12.7V.

Engine running: 14V

any obvious faults folks?

Or is it electrical diagnostics?
