Emissions light has come on has anyone had same problem car still perform s as it should any ideas

Have you had or done an oil change recently. Is it a petrol or diesel?

My own personal experience when car went into service it’s an 05 1.9 PD TDi. The technician trapped a cable into the filter housing when tightening it and that cable somehow threw the emissions warning light onto the dash. Even the AA knew that something was not right with the coolant temperate sensor not telling the ECU what the temperature was. So I presume it’s in that area for me your car maybe the same or different.

The emissions fault light is just a summary indicator telling you get a garage to do a diagnostics check to find which of many possible faults caused it to light.
