Engine starts then dies glow plug flashing!

Featured Replies

Hi All

As the title says I been having this problem in the past year maybe once every few months!! and now it's beging to happen maybe once a month and today being the worse 3 times in the one shift!!!

Only seems to happen when car is warm starts fine but soon as it starts the engine dies with the glow plug light flashing! Restarts 2nd attempt no problem and runs fine no EML or glow plugs light staying on!

Replaced all four glow plugs recently as I had cylynder one glow plug fault BUT am not 100% sure did I have this fault before I renewed the plugs🤔 I changed the plugs with original ome (bosh) car has covered 186k as it's a ph taxi am now thinking could maybe fuel pump? Would the ECU have any fault codes stored even tho I have no engine management light on?

Almost certainly but they may not show up on a generic OBDII reader, VCDS would show them.

90% sure its gonna be cam and crank correlation. Get timing checked.

Normally see this when someone does a cambelt (badly)

Hi mine did this last week glow plug light came on and no power i switched it off and the light went off but came back on after a sort while it did this a few times so when i got home i put my reader on and it came up with p0403 code (i think that was the code ) it turned out to be the EGR valve sticking cost £600 to supply and fit (was advised not to use after market ) this sorted it car running like new again 10 plate with 100000 on it with cffb engine
