Sourcing parts

Featured Replies

Hi,

New to the forum so if I don’t follow etiquette I apologise!

I am the proud owner of a 2012 Skoda Yeti Greenline. It’s served me well for 6 years, and still drives as well as it did when we first bought it. We’ve treated her well - full service history, upholstery clean and tidy, etc etc... but she’s now starting to show her age, having just failed an MOT with a cracked rear coil spring.

Now, the reason I post is that sourcing the spring was a bit of a nightmare - the garage’s usual suppliers couldn’t get hold of one, and it took me a bit of a search to find one online that I could get hold of - apparently there isn’t that many around. I did manage to source one and thankfully the Yeti is  now through the MOT.

However, I wondered if parts being hard to get hold of is a common thing? Given that Skoda is a VAG brand, I thought that parts - especially something like a spring - would be easy to get hold of?

I ask because as I say, the Yeti is starting to show her age, and I don’t want to be in a situation where something can’t be replaced.

Any thoughts? Am I being daft?

Cheers

@ameezy

I am surprised that there were any issue getting you a spring.

Thanks all

The couple of times I needed parts I found getting them directly from a Skoda dealer to be the quickest and often cheapest option.

As above (and my sig), Briskoda has it's very own parts supplier.
