Adaptive light error after changing Xenon Bulbs – error code C107E54

Featured Replies

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help. I’ve just changed the Xenon bulbs in my Superb Mk3. After changing them I noticed that the lights no longer did their calibration when I start the car. Normally they move sideways and up and down. One headlight also points much lower than the other one now.

I have Odbeleven and after Goggling the issue I tried to do the ‘Basic Settings’ from the headlight control module 55, to let the computer ‘learn’ the home position of the light again. However, it doesn’t seem to work. Whenever I hold down the green tick to start the basic setting process it seems to just end right after it starts. I then get a fault C107E54 ‘No basic setting’. Plus, when I exit basic Settings and go back in it has ‘Not Acitve’ under the basic setting banner.

Has anyone had this experience after changing bulbs, or any idea of any initial steps I need to take before trying the basic settings again.  I’ve tried with and without the headlights on, plus clear the code each time before trying.

hmmm....something is not right as simply changing the xenon bulbs should not upset anything, nor should it require any "learning".

i've changed the xenon bulbs in mine without any issues.

did u accidentally disconnect something else?

are all the power and light control modules seated correctly on the headlight itself?

Hi JR,

Yes I did disconnect something else. However everything is reconnected.

I ended up removing the whole passenger headlight unit from the car, I couldn't for the life of me get the new bulb to seat correctly. Before you worry to much....

I have actually done this before a while back, as I replace the headlight unit after hitting a deer. It was cracked and letting a bit of water in. The replacement unit was bare so I swapped over all the modules and the xenon bulb at the time. All refitted fine and has worked ever since. Didn't need to do anything other that the physical swap. When I start the car back up it worked fine and did the start 'up dance' no issues.

So this time round once out all I did was replace the bulb and refit. There is only one main connector to the whole unit from the car (I have obviously reconnect the internal connection to the bulb as well). The LED bar and the xenon bulb come on fine, LED turns orange for turn signal etc.

I have noticed when I clear the C107E54 error code the passenger headlight moves up and down, then drivers side doesn't move at all. So I'm wondering if that's the side with the issue. All i did on that side was replace the bulb (it was the second one I did so i learnt from the first).

Hi JR,

Randomly they started working again this morning! II took the car out at lunch to post an ebay item and they started up fine!

Will keep monitoring them over the next week or so but hopefully its fixed itself!
