1.5 TSI Edition

Featured Replies

Evening All, some of you may have read my ramblings on another post on here about the SE L! However, just had a potential spanner thrown in the works!!

My local dealer has offered me a new 1.5 TSI Edition, DSG, only additional option being the virtual cockpit!! Anyway, £26,800, plus 1st two services free, and a full tank of fuel lol (key)!!

I think that's a pretty decent price but what do I know!? Is that price good peeps plse?

Many thanks in advance

Andrew

Ps. They are accepting my Golf R as part-ex, so most contribution coming from that..

It is impossible to say in the circumstances. It depends how generous they are being with your p/ex. It is the price to change that counts.

Have a look what deals there are on similar new cars and how much WBAC or others are offering for a hassle free purchase of your Golf.

You will then have an idea whether your dealer is offering a fair deal or not.....

Hi, reference p/ex I've been offered £18k for my early 2016 R, so, again, I think a reasonable deal! WBAC not giving me valuation in last week or so but gave me £17300 back on 20th October! That said, offered me £18300 back mid-September..

I'm sure I could potentially get more selling privately, maybe another £1000, but what with covid, not sure i want to run that risk, or, indeed go through the hassle etc of selling privately..

Still time of course as any potential purchase is still at least 3 weeks away lol, and tbf to the dealer they've told me they don't care how I pay the £26,800, and have welcomed me selling my R in any way whatsoever..

Got the £26800 through Carwow, cheapest offer, and local, and equals discount of 16% over list price, but just thought I'd ask you fine peeps if that's a good discount these days!? Haven't bought new for nearly 20 years now, so probably ignorant to buying new cars in the 21st century, and ways to haggle for more lol!?

Age old debacle of course with similarly loaded SE L costing even more than £26800 Edition, so hoping I've been offered a good deal here..

I got a Sportline 1.5 manual with a few options including virtual cockpit, spare wheel, ISOFIX on the front seat and family pack for £21.5k

It's £25875 going thu DriveTheDeal. I usually allow £400-£500 leeway if buying local therefore my limit would be £26300 so if it were my money, it wouldn't be a good deal.

Far too many permutations regarding your trade-in. Just go with what you're happy with would be my advice.

Hmmm, where you getting £25875 from plse? When I do it, comes up at just over £27k on DTD...

You sure you're quoting on Edition 1.5 DSG with virtual cockpit?

How weird. Nope, it was the correct car alright, and I assumed it was one of the free colours as opposed to special red or black at £380 extra.  Yep, when I ran it thru just now it was just over £27k, but when I ran it thru earlier it was £25873.something pence which I rounded up to £25875 for simplicity.  It was showing a much higher discount earlier today as I remember thinking that was a wee bit more than the discount I received when I bought mine last year.  The discount ( including PCP contribution ) is now saying under 5 grand !  It was a fraction over 7 grand when I checked.

I think what's happened (and I did this earlier too lol) was accidentally select the SE L DSG, with VC, as that matches exactly the figure you quoted above...

So you got nearly 7k off a new 1.5 Edition last year??

Yes. I paid £24k for mine.

The extra in list price can be accounted for by a slight price increase by Skoda but of course the new 1st year WLTP based VED rates came into effect on 1st April of this year - that bumped the price up. Skoda were also offering a £2750 PCP contribution in Nov '19 as opposed to the £2000 right now, so theres another £750 off.

I bought a Kodiaq a few weeks back and that was around £7500 discount ( would have been £8500 if I'd bought a car from stock !). If I'd seen it was less than £5000 discount on the Karoq, the first thought to have crossed my mind would have been how close Karoq and Kodiaq prices are. Nope, defo the 1.5 DSG Edition I checked.

How odd, because every time I checked DRD in recent days, the price was always the same..

The discount through Carwow works out more than 5k anyway, and Kodiaq just too big for our needs...

That said, I'm likely to choose a stock car, and that's part of the deal I think in this case! Either that or risk buying totally new, paying more in taxes/duty, and waiting up to 6 months..
