Dead Laguna

Featured Replies

sorry its not my car:thumbup: however the lady that owns its left it here with me and went to England for a few weeks. I know its got a brand new battery, as twas i that put it in for her. However........ its sat here 6 days, thought I'd give it a look over for her, and its dead...... SO DEAD, I cant get in it, the remote control wont function, and the door key just turns round and round in all the locks.

Its not the actual remote as she had the battery changed in the key only last month also. Thus the car battery must be totally flat.

Not rang her to give her the good news yet. Stupid design you cant get in the car though.

You think it could be an eath fualt that the battery (quite an expensive one) 112

Ok i had 1 of these cars so i know a bit about them. Get into the car via the boot. The door lock was just the same on mine not sure why. Then check the battery. If its flat then its probably 1, faulty 2 not being charged, or 3,being drained by the alarm. Charge it up and get car running. Check it charging correctly as the alternator fails on these but doesnt show up as fault on dash. If all checks out see if battery holds a charge

I try to never leave a car for longer than a week without driving it if I can avoid it. But what you are describing sounds like there is something to check. Was the battery also fully charged post-fitting it?

thanks for replies!

cant get in the boot the lock spins just the same :(

fully charged battery when new??? now that I cant be sure of, I fitted it, but she only ever does 5-6km trips, so i guess it's never been run in properly, and perhaps not being charged?

I know there is a fault with the car as this battery 2 since feb. First was thought to be faulty......... obviously not though! The car must be a tad fecked. Its 11yrs old now, and I told her the clutch is on the spin, but won't listen if fixing it costs money. Now shes gonna have to get the garage out to it, coz its stuck here.

Get what you pay for or not :)

update:

i got in :) three turns anti-clockwise until something grips the key and a half turn clockwise the door lock opened.

yep the battery is dead to the world. There is no alarm but a crazy computer, it talks all the time, I know this as "STOP turn off the engine" oil light flashing....... no fault etc.

the alternator is covered in oil however, perhaps yes its had it? She can add that to the clutch and bald rear tyres. No idea what that cars been towing but whatever it was, was way too heavy to make the rear tyres on a FWD bald!!
