Dashboard lighting up like a Christmas tree. Video included

Ok, went to start the car today and instead of the dials doing their usual startup routine, this happened

Taking the key out and trying to lock the car and the alarm keeps going off. It's like the car is possessed!

Anyone any idea where to start? I did have a water in the passenger footwell problem recently.

Flat battery?

Could be, if its that simple I'd be happy.

If it is the battery then charging it or replacement should cure most of the lights. A couple may still be lit but a short drive should also see them extinguished.

I've had the car a year, but it's 2008. I always like a decent battery, so ordered a yuasa replacement.

I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. It was a flat battery. Probably caused by not driving it as much lately. I put a charger on it for a few hours and it was right as rain.

Well that's a relief. The car is 12 years old, so I don't mind putting a new battery into it, no idea how old the current one is.

It is a flat battery. When you start driving the lights will go off one by one. The stored DTCs will need to be deleted with a code reader or VCDS.

It wouldn't even start! I reckon the battery was old, replaced it and I'm sorted.

Cheers!
