Featured Replies

Hello to all and I hope you are well and happy.

I’ve finally bought a great car after much consideration for an estate for growing family- I’ve came from owning a TT so know my way about the vag engine but cannot for the life of me gone this sensor to replace wit a new one I have just bought genuine.

its coming up as a fault on my scanner.

Thank you in advance and great site too

Thankyou in advance for what?

You have not asked a question, your posting is gibberish & makes no sense to me, maybe others will understand.

Many Thanks for your reply Wino and the welcome to the forum.

Yes,I have a CCZA engine and the sensor fig.no.6 is the part in question that I am looking to replace.

I have the new genuine part 06A919501A

I do not know where to find it to replace it.

This thread meantions the water pump location, which seems to be very close to the sensor:

I understand now.

The title did not contain a question mark like your subsequent posting but that's not a problem, when reading the posting the title is not on the screen and the posting makes no sense even now I know what question you are asking.

I hope Wino has given you the information that you need.

Thank you again Wino for your help.

J.R excuse my lack of a question mark🙄

It doesn’t really answer my question tho-these same 5 minutes to find and easily change sensors (tho with 4 pins on a TT) affect so much as in rough idling/lean mpg/temperature not hitting 90 etc etc

The same issue on my TT,changed, reset with vcds and I’m good to go at least twice in just over 2 years.

They are a common fault code on VAG vehicles.

I just want to know  where it is located on my just bought 2010 Octavia Vrs estate tfsi petrol engine so I can change it for a new sensor I have just bought.I cannot see it at all.

Please.

Many Thanks

Try looking at this photo, from an ebay ad. Top left is the alternator. Just to the right of that I can see the oil cooler, item 19 from the diagram linked in my first post, so the thermostat housing is just a bit further to the right of that.  Access looks likely to be difficult, but possibly easier from below.

Thank you again Wino, you have put a lot of time into helping me.

Suprised but I will instead have a look from underneath, plus using your photo as reference ,hopefully tomorrow when I give her an oil change.

2010 Mk2 Oktavia vrs tfsi engine coolant temperature sensor location on the engine

Anybody looking for this sensor, it is underneath, passenger side to the left of the left hand radiator fan.It is sitting perched upwards, so from looking down the left hand side from above, you can just see it with a torch.

Sorry, from above.look down the right hand side and then you can see it sitting perched

From your description, @Nexus21, the one you've found is item 28 here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2010-663/1/121-121027/

Which is a second sensor, according to the wiring diagrams. Instead of being called G62, Coolant temperature sensor; I think the one you've found is called G83, Coolant temperature sensor at radiator outlet.  Which did the fault code point to? What is the fault code number?

Hi Wino, thanks for keeping an interest and your help.

Yes the fault code was P2185 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor G83

The genuine vag part I bought to replace it with is part number 06A919501A.

I will try get a photo of it inside the engine bay later for future use for people with the same issue.

The other one is the same part number. Shame I didn't ask about the fault code specifics earlier, would've saved a bunch of messing about.

That G83 one's much easier to find and access.

The primary is generally on the pump behind the intake manifold.
