Higher the letter newer the model. Post 2015 Mk3 Superb is 3V.

So 1Z is........?

Mk2 Octavia, I thought!

 

I think these two characters are to be found as the 7th and 8th in your VIN?

Mk2 Octavia circa 2011.

1u is a mk 1 octy 1996 - 2004 (2010 in taxi spec

 

1z is a mk2 octy - 2004/5 - 2013

a 2 after the letter is a hatchback and a 5 is an estate.

ie

1u5 - mk1 octy combi

1z2 - mk2 octy hatch.

What's also on the VIN is where it was built e.g. MB is Mladea Boleslav in the Czech Republic. Second and third letters after the T.

You can download the "maintenance" chapter. Have a look to pages 2 & 3. You'll be then able to understand each part of your VIN.  

 

Note: 3T corresponds to Superb Mk2, whereas 3U stands for Superb Mk1.

A 2020 Superb should be a 3V, at least in the UK.
