Siren life

Featured Replies

While sitting in the supermarket car park waiting for the missus to finish the weekly shop I sometimes read the owner's manual to pass the time. On page 32 referring to the siren/alarm it mentions that the working life of  the siren is only 5 years. That is pretty naff and what is there to go wrong? I am surprised that the service record does not recommend a replacement siren after 5 years as Skoda love to rip us all off.

Back up battery soldered to the circuit board has a finite life.

They wont add it to the service schedule because they only want to do things that bring them loadsamoney without getting their hands dirty or the possibility of screwing something else up.

Like a Haldex service & filter clean and draining the diff oil by mistake, better to say that it never needs servicing.

The Roomster & Fabia Service Books when they came with one did have the Alarm Siren as a Replacement item at 5 years.

There are 10 year old or older cars still with the original though.

I may test it.  Keep the missus in the car and lock it like I accidently did with my grandson while I popped into the paper shop.

Easy to go out and open a window and lock the car and then lean in and wave your arm hand about.
