vRS MPG

Featured Replies

Now that my fabia vRS is nearly here our lass is on about getting an Octy ii vRS as the family wagon instead of the deisal L&K, so quick question......will the fuel bills bankrupt me (small child available for slavery:D ) what sort of mileage is everyone getting around town and pure motorway? Thanks:thumbup:

Purely depends how you drive it.

Drive like a saint on motorways, it does around 40mpg, drive at 90 every and expect around 30.

Around town expect late 20s and low twenties being silly.

Ive had my car for 2 days and already have managed 35.6mpg

will the fuel bills bankrupt me
Depends how deep the pockets go ;)

I averaged 70mpg (over a 13 mile 30mph zone) yesterday and recently had 59 mpg average for the day driving normally. Well impressed with the Fabia and it's getting better as I approach the 10k mark.

The chances of seeing that are extremely slim :)

I agree. These guy's must be driving with ballet shoes on because I have not achieved anything like those figures. Iv'e had mine now for over 8,000 miles so pretty much covered all the differrent driving scenarios so here is a run down on the mpg's Iv'e been getting:-

Longer Distance: 32.4 mpg (although my wife got 35.8 mpg once)

Short Distance: 25.7 mpg

Blasting Backroads: 22.4 mpg

Overall I'm getting around 25-26 mpg but you may get more than that as I do a lot of shorter type journey's with more than a sprinkling of backroads ;) .

I did say drive like a saint, i.e. motorway at between 60-70mph with no large throttle openings. It is not what the car is meant for and rather boring.

Shame he's asking about the Octy (he already has the Fabia).

To answer the question, from looking on here I think 32 is a realistic figure in everyday driving for an average, taking in to account motorway, A road and traffic jams.

He certainly is, but read the rest of the sentence and look at the forum he's posted in ;)

Oh and nobody likes a smart ar$e ;)

unless u will be driving flat out everywhere u shouldnt notice too much diff if u take into account fuel price diff between petrol and diesel ...... i do 25k pa into london on motorways ... between 80 - 90 mph ( when times permit ) and get 350 miles per tank bit more if keep under 80

Thanks everybody, if I can get a reasonable trade in for the L&K I think I will treat her:thumbup:

Johnny Boy appreciate the effort, when it finally gets here the Fabia vRS will be my second, the first went for the L&K:P

As I only do a small mileage each day compared to HID we will probably rotate cars, so the turbo gets warmed up and run in you understand:rolleyes: on both.

Yippeeeeeeeee will keep you all informed and looking forward to first meet:thumbup:
