Took delivery of my 67 plate Skoda SE L Estate 1.4TSI Auto yesterday and loving it so far. Only issue I've found at the moment is that I cannot connect the Skoda connect to the hotspot on my iPhone 12. I can see my home Wifi and connect to that. I switched my iPhone to Maximise Compatibility which did actually then show in the SSID and was able to connect. But have switching off the ignition and back on, the Amundeson will not reconnect to my iPhone 12, or even see it in the SSID list. Skoda also do not list the 11 or 12 in their compatibility list, so assumed that they just haven't caught up even though the iPhone 11 is 12 months old.

 

If all else fails I might try a portable 4G router and see how that goes, but ideally would like to use my phone.

 

Any thoughts anyone.

I have experienced the same issues even with an iphone 8. 

To have internet in the car, I need to click on personal hotspot in control panel (make it discoverable) and then, usually, the Amundsen connects to my phone. But after stopping for a short time (gas sation for example), the car does not reconnect automatically to the hotspot and sometimes, even if I follow the steps detailed, it's hard to make the connection...

I reckon it has to do with Apple, as the hotspot keeps reverting to non-discoverable

It can be a bit quicksotic/random.  Wireless Hotspots usually have timeouts on phones (my Android 10 devices has a timeout after nothing connected of 10 mins). 

Do you have an Amunsden or a Columbus unit BTW?

Can you also post the version of firmware you have pls (Menu->Settings->Version)

Yes - that's fairly ancient firmware.  I'll need to confirm with @pab567but I think this is an Amunsden MIB2.5 unit - with which the most recent firmware is 0478.  You also need the latest maps from http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/

Yes going to do the maps tonight all being well. I've downloaded the 13GB Europe file, just need to copy it over to the SD card. Only had the car since last Wednesday 9th. Can I update the firmware myself. This is the new touch screen Amunsden unit with the all black facia, no physical buttons.
