Interior lighting

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I tried a little search for this but couldn't find anything for a fabia 2.

I want to change the interior light (next to the rear view mirror) for one thats whiter and not completely useless.

Anyone done this before and have bulb recommendations?

There are three bulbs fitted to that module. One C10W in the middle and two W5W either side. LEDs are readily available for these and as far as I know you don't need to worry about load resistors since the BCM doesn't monitor these for bulb failures.

These work great.

LED interior lights are an absolute must for any owner.

I was very surprised with how much of a difference some bulbs made.

And if I wanted to swap to LEDs on the numberplate, what do I need?

Extremely easy, all you need is a thin flathead screw driver. Pry at the plastic cover and it should pop off.

Personally not done a numberplate one yet, I think all you need is a screwdriver and error free 239 LEDs.

Autobeam sell good quality LEDs in pretty much every size.

Don't IMO................often they are to bright.

Why oh why does everyone want their old car lit up like a darned Christmas tree, ruining other drivers night vision and looking like a plod magnet.

Townies.

How is having interior lights that are actually bright enough to see what's in my centre console, or number plate lights bright enough to illuminate my number plate "ruining other drivers night vision" or attracting the police? You know it's not illegal to have LED number plates right?

The glare from the number plate light would be really harsh to other drivers at night. Even brake lights can be harsh when someone sits on the brake pedal in traffic. It's about being considerate to other road users.

illuminating the number plate is good. but the ones i have seen seem to shine the bright light out the way and can be distracting.on the other hand the standard number plate lights don't illuminate the plate enough imo

Don't have to be LED, just want something whiter

You can find both the rear bulbs, along with the interior and the two W5 type interiors all in LED bulbs, on the 'Bay. They work well and are easy to fit. As for the numberplate ones "Glaring", I have found that they are not that bright and on the Fabia, are tucked away just enough to not be a PITA. Otherwise, you could use a light tint in the lenses anyway. A slightly brighter, slightly tinted look will please both you and the numpties who have lowered their ride soon much, even the numberplate bulbs dazzle them!  You can also get actual LED lights for the numberplate but just the bulbs is good enough and cheaper.

Led lights are not E marked. I got an mot advisory.

..Advisory is still a pass, though. My daughter gets an advisory every MOT for having little bluefish and yellowish prism, type covers inside her headlights, over the bulbs. (Forgot their name) They supposedly help cut glare at night and/or in the rain. The MOT says "Product on the headlight but not severe enough to reduce light output" Or something very similar. As its only a ten min job to pop them in or out, it seemed worth failing once but it never happened.

Same, also mine kept blowing no matter how much money I spent on them. My MOT guy said "you shouldn't really have those you know, try and revert to normals please" didn't marked me.
