Did they just give you a blade or does it look like a normal car key?  My local Timpsons warned me never to put it in the ignition - it could knacker the whole system.

Just looks like a fairly normal key, had read something elsewhere about not putting it in the ignition but no idea if that's right or wrong I have checked it in the drivers door and it works it's now in it's hiding place and I'll be quite happy if it never comes out of hiding. 

My nearest key cutter is in Dingwall, 65 miles away and over two hours' drive,  But when I next go I will get a spare key and put it in the lining of the wife's handbag,
