Rear badge with white worm

Featured Replies

I know this subject has been covered many times on this forum, I have now had 3 badges fitted to my Yeti rear hatch and all of them have deteriated due to white worm. Could I ask if the new style badge fitted to later models of yeti would fit onto my 2013 model. I know the badge is held on with an adhesive but is there pins fitted to locate into the bodywork. Many thanks in advance.

Yes, new badge is straight swop. It is purely held on with adhesive pad, no pins. Replaced mine on my previous Yeti. Just gently warm the old badge with a hair drier and should come off easily. Make sure the panel is clean before sticking on the new.

As said above, easy swop. The new badge is plastic, and free from any sort of corrosion.

An all black badge from Ali-Express will not suffer the same fate.

Thanks andyspan and Yety, will get one ordered to replace the faulty one. Wouldn't you think a company promoting their vehicles would strive to have a decent quality badge on display.

Cheers J.R. , going to check out that site now.

A pleasure!

I have a front one thats been on my workbench since the summer waiting to be fitted, very good quality with die cut adhesive &  release tabs, it appears to be an OE one as well, it has a die cut cut out in the adhesive with a raised moulded boss underneath with the VAG part number, for such a low cost item a pattern part manufacturer would not have invested that much in the tooling if at all.

A lot of the parts I have had from Ali-Express have been OE like the battery box, spectacle cubby boxes etc although they have come from a parallel market, either the makers selling batches, overproduction, out of tolerance parts or from old tooling.

I believe my engine and battery covers on Fleabay were from VAG China.

One thing is for sure, I have had many parts from China and been surprised to see the VAG markings & part numbers & they have always been superb quality, something like the overhead console spectacles cubby with its damped hinged drop down lid, lofted curves, locating clips etc would be the last thing in the world that you would tool up for to make a pattern part, even from the original moulds & OE production line there will be those with slight distortion that will stick & not open with a touch, those are the sort of parts I would expect to see finding homes via the parallel market.

Given that everything has been 100% spot on then I think you are right although they will have been through a different distribution channel.

They could be unsold stock or consignments that were refused if packaging damaged, samples checked failed QC etc.
