Grinding when braking & revving on it's own!

Featured Replies

Hi all hopefully someone can shed some light as to what happened, I had a grating & juddering from the brake pedal when I braked & the engine revved on it's own. I shut the car off & tried again & the same happened again but this time the engine revved right to the red line, I'm guessing something's gone wrong with the abs but not sure what made it rev on it's own.

I should add when I let it roll with the engine off the brakes were nice & quiet.

You should check the oil level before running it again, just in case fuel has been getting into the engine oil and raised its level enough to cause the engine to run from the fuel-oil mix getting into the combustion chamber.

Doesn't seem to be running away, I removed the fuse & relay for the abs & it doesn't rev on it's own any more.
