Door open light

Featured Replies

Morning everyone. My 'door open' light is on permenantly at the moment, it just started this morning. I've done the obvoius and nothing is open. Any ideas what could sort it without a trip to the dealers, as it is a forty mile round trip from Scarborough to the nearest one.

Thanks.

worth fiddling with the switch in the roof lining? take the light out short term.

Are the door (red) lights on as well? Maybe a faulty switch on the door frame.

Sorry, I meant the dash warning light, not the actual light. Where is the sensor on the door? In the old days, it was obvious, a red depressor switch or something. Now, things are less mechanical and more electronic.

The door switch is on the bottom left of the door as your facing the the car as if you were about to get in. There is a small peg on the door that fits into a black socket on the door jam, I think the socket is the switch. I'm afraid I don't know how to change it as the dealer sorted this problem before we picked the car up.

Is it normal to have a glove box light that is on all the time I

Thats not the light switch, thats a peg that stops the door deforming in an accident. The switch for the door is built into the catch.

Well, as these things do, it has cured itself. I'll have to see if it happens again. Thanks for the advice and sorry for wasting everyone's time. Saves me a trip to the dealers.

Cheers.

No waste of time at all. Probably a slightly dicky switch, more than likely the one on the tailgate i'd say.

Just pull off the dash end trim, you can see the light then.

I've got a portable CCTV camera we can put in there to see if it goes out (it works on fridges).

Ha ha. But I can actually see the light through the gaps around the lid panel. It definitely stays on whenever the ignition is on. Weird huh? What do you reckon Lummox? I

Thanks for correcting me Lummox, I was just going by what the dealer told us on the test drive.

Anyway I hope I didn't waste any of your time with duff information Skinnyman.

No problem Deano, I appreciate any help as I am still learning about the Octavia and all its little quirks.
