Mk 4 vRS UK Heated Steering Wheel?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first post here so please it easy on me :blush

About to pull the trigger and place my order for a new vRS. Very excited!! (Never owned a Skoda before, coming from a VW Transporter).

Quite fond of a heated steering wheel, so was happy to find the dealerships demo had one (was told the only extra on the demo vehicle was a spare wheel, everything else was standard).

So naturally I was quite surprised when I was told that a heated steering wheel is only available as part of the winter pack for an extra £480.

So my question is do any of you lucky Mk4 vRS owners have the heated wheel without the winter pack (heated windscreen and washer jets)? And why am I now being told it's not standard?

confused . com haha

Thanks in advance, H

hi and welcome to skoda 😂😂 this is usually what happens tbh, i have first edition not the vrs so cant comment but my car was meant to come with some things that the demo car had but unfortunately it did not and was optional extras

I just picked my vrs up yesterday and it has a heated steering wheel. It’s listed as standard equipment on the model website for the UK

Good to know that your VRS came with a heated steering wheel but I've been confused by this as well.  In fact the entire range of standard equipment, extras and add on packs is a total mess imo.  The configurator mentions 'part of a cost pack' but I cannot see them available anywhere.  Also the VRS seems to come with some stuff that the packs do include yet the price increase seems to be for the entire pack (as if all components are required even though it comes with some).  Also the skoda website 'full equipment list' mentions heated seats but not heated steering wheel!?

Yes I’m simply trying to help original post as title referred to the vrs specific model. I do however agree the literature isn’t clear

Does anyone know if the high function rear LEDs are part of a pack or not on the VRS model?

The online brochure I downloaded suggests it`s standard, but looking at some of the available packs (e.g. Rear view camera) suggest they're part of a pack, can anyone confirm if the UK VRS gets the dynamic indicators etc. as standard?

Standard in uk

That's good to know thanks parsey83, I was concerned I'd made a mess of my config!

No problem. I think the problem is Skoda use some of the options/packs from the other octavia models and list them against the vrs when in fact the vrs has items such as dynamic rear led and heated wheel etc as standard

Skoda's policy of seemingly random upgrades and 'packs' which they, like other car makers, have obviously decided is more profitable than actually letting customers choose the individual items they want is extremely frustrating.

It doesn't help that these days most dealers seemingly only care about numbers and literally don't know anything about the cars and don't even bother to learn all the options. It's a real shame because knowledgeable local dealers used to be a Skoda strongpoint, and now there's only huge corporate dealers with 'kids' as salesman (sweeping generalisation obviously)

The cars are better than ever but customer service has gone out the window in my experience.

WRT your first point, I believe more items being in packs is due to emissions testing. Having items in packs means you only need to test a handful of configurations of the car for emissions. If everything was á la carte the number of possible combinations to test could run into the hundreds.

There is a new brochure and price list dated 21st December 2021

There are various winter packs, including the one with heated rear seats and tri zone climate, but it is confusing as some packs seem to cover what is standard on various models

Yes, this is the brochure I was looking at which suggests the rear LEDs are standard on the VRS.

To confuse me even more, I've just had an email from the dealers to say they're not standard and are a £605 option, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the car actually has when it arrives!

Shame, as I'd have liked to have the scrolling indicators but not really a deal breaker!

I went through 3 different dealers to get the best deal on my new VRS. Only one the aforementioned dealers had a clue what they were talking about with regard to the new octavia.

Your dealer is wrong and is either knowingly trying to charge you more or isn’t overly interested in establishing the spec. All UK vrs with have the sweeping indicators at the rear, led matrix headlights and the high function tail lights . That info came from Skoda Uk when I enquired through official contact channels

I have to admit, I just went for the cheapest offer over anything else.

Probably the latter reason tbf to the dealer, as I'd already placed the order.

I'd read something elsewhere that made me query whether the rear LEDs were standard, so it's good to know they are thanks.
