Furby vRS alarm?

Featured Replies

Does the Furby vRS come with one fitted as standard? This is one thing I had forgotten to ask when ordering.

Thanks.

I believe the answer is yes.

Furby vRS does, Octy vRS doesn't.

Go figure.

The answer is yet, Matt - Lots of mentions of remote central locking and alarm on the great www.

edit: Do I sense another thing for the bits for sale thread? :D

jason why not buy matts car before the strips it ;):D

Just to confirm YES it does.. i accidently set it off last week...

Is it a separate siren or does it sound the horn? I don't really want to set it off on purpose... :-)

Thats a relief!

I shall probably get one of those disc-type steering wheel locks too, just to put my mind at ease.

I just got meself one of the silver diskloks, check out the auto express web site for reviews of locks. The disklok is the onely one they seem to rate as being worthwhile.

Thanks for that. how much can I expect to pay for one?

Just 69.99 from our friends at the well known motor accessory retailer to you good sir...

Seems a lot, but when you look at the attack times on the reviews, paying 30-40 quid for something that will resist a crook for literally a few seconds doesn't seem worthwhile....

Handy tip..

If you go for a Disclock, get the bag too.

It has velcro on the back and sticks nicely to the boot carpet, so the lock isnt sliding around the boot knocking lumps out of things ;)

Thanks Geoff,

My current steering lock has a habit of throwing itself around the cabin. Or perhaps its me throwing the car around too much! :D

Thanks for that. I had noticed some clunking noises emanating from the boot area whilst the lock resided in there... :-) It's a big bugger n'all.

Glad to help, always a pleasure, never a chore :D

Which reminds me, its about time i got a Silver Disclock to match the car, yellow just doesnt look right :D

btw, are we talking about the one that covers the whole steering wheel, or the half size one?

The one that covers the whole wheel is the Disclock.

The other one is the Autolock 2000, Halfords do a version too.

Disclock is the one that usually comes top in all the tests ;)

The Disklok one covers the whole steering wheel. The half covering one is the autolock onem or its halfords own brand equivalent, both of which lasted around 15 seconds in the autoexpress tests, as opposed to 175 seconds for the disklok, Still not that long, but still a minute longer than the next best one.

Cheers guys,

It's still quite alarming how quickly these things can be overcome by thieves.

Anyone know of any octy/golf/a3 or similar cars nicked without the remote/key/immobiliser switch being stolen?

Can they actual be driven off or is the immobiliser effective?

Jono

I think, these days, Immobilisers are very effective.. which is why the low life scum break into the house for the keys :(

Pity the poor fool that breaks in when I'm home...

Jono

The trouble is, they tend to come mob-handed & tooled up...

Now, would you seriously argue with some shotgun wielding scrote over a car??

The choice is yours...

Well, you have a point. A car nicking mob is a different kettle of fish entirely to a burglar.

Always liked the idea of having a remotely controlled explosive in all the expensive stuff I own...

Wait 90 seconds, then boooom!

Jono[/quote']Or give them a fake remote control central locking key fob packed with small explosives and let that go off just before they get in the car.

Poor scum won't have a hand left to use the shotgun ;)

The Disklok for the Fabia is currently
