VCDS / OBD 11 wishlist for Santa

Featured Replies

my wishlist currently looks like this. any worthwhile additions ?

  • permanently disable stop-start
  • locking car while engine remains running
  • permanently disable headlight washers
  • disable loud beeping when driver’s door opened while engine is running
  • one touch key fob boot opening

I'm sure I've read that OBDeleven can disable headlight washers (although this is illegal if you have LED headlights and may well fail an MOT), and also disable the audible warning if you open the driver's door while the engine is running (although I find that very handy with KESSY as I forget to push the On/Off button).

Disabling the stop/Start feature seems to have been outlawed now, as the previous methods don't seem to work on recent cars.

Obdeleven will carry out those changes providing your vehicle is compatible. I believe the deactivation of start stop (usually by voltage method) no longer works on late 2018 vehicles.

Now what I would like is a way for the car to remember the driving mode you last selected, rather than reverting to the default Normal mode!

From what I understand, the WLTP certification requires the car reset to 'normal' so this functionally it built in to the CAN gateway software from around MY19 (3Q0 907 530 AA and newer).

Unless someone is able to modify the CAN gateway software, I don't think it'll be possible to disable it on a MY21. You could try an older CAN gateway but that may cause issues with other modules :(

Spot on the money.
