Latest Maxton design rear diffuser revision 2

Featured Replies

After searching here to see if anyone else had Intalled the revised Maxton design rear spoiler, I thought I put up mine as I installed it over Christmas.

It's the version 2 diffuser and I think it looks amazing, fits amazing well ( which was a suprise after reading so many reviews about bad fitment ) and comes with an exhaust extension peice to move the exhaust away from the diffuser as it apparently melts them otherwise.

Apparently you can fit these with the bumper on but I couldn't be bothered so took the whole bumper off instead.

Took a few hours but that was really taking my time and I'm really pleased with the results.

Also fitted new wheels, the reiger front splitter and I have Maxton design side skirts to install next but haven't worked out how best to fit them without drilling into the sill ? Then fit my lowering springs.......

Anyway, here's some pics of the diffuser installed and just wondered what you think. Also my love the fact it hides my detachable tow bar and has a removable panel 👍

Looks a lot more subtle than the other version which is a little in your face. Quite similar to the Reiger offering. Did you go matt or gloss finish? Good to hear there's no fitment issues.

It's not as in your face as the Maxton add on price, looks really well as it's all one peice. I had it in gloss black mainly to tie in with the reiger splitter and my car has the black pack, so all ties in with each other.

Just the side skirts and lowering to go now and I'll be a happy bunny.

As regards fitment, It fits really well, no strange gaps, all symmetrical, attaches to all the original points on the underside of the car, and is as sturdy as anything ( by my pull and tug at it standards anyway ) so I was really pleased with that, because I was expecting to have to take it off, and trim stuff to get it to fit correctly. So really pleased, and doesn't look in your face at all, quite subtle but looks amazing.

I've the V1 (I think) Maxton splitter, also on a white car with black pack, and was debating about what to do on the rear. I was between the Reiger and the Maxton splitter style (not seen any proper photos of that too make up my mind). This revision is a definite contender now though 😎

If you want any more photos, I don't mind sending you some. I think it looks amazing on a white car, especially with a the matching black detail. Well worth it, especially as I've got a detachable tow bar, stealth yet practical at the same time 👍

Evening Danielwhitt. I too am thinking of getting one of these. I already have the Maxton side skirts fitted. Did you use tiger seal/sikoflex to secure it. That's what I used for the side skirts. I held them in placed with two jacks and a plank of Wood until they were bonded.

Didn't need to use anything to bond it, it comes with 5 tabs around the top part of the splitter to secure it in the original places, and then the bottom part, lines up with the original holes and just use the original hardware to secure the bottom side, so no bonding needed. It's solid too. Never took any photos of how I mounted it inside but it's really simple and doesn't budge at all. I was expecting to bond it after all the fitment horror stories but it was a doddle.

As for the side skirts, I didn't want a permanently fix them just incase they got damaged and needed to be replaced. Was sure wether to use riv nuts on the sill instead of self tappers, so atleast it can be replaced it damaged, and welded back up if needed. Also want to fit them soon, and don't think the weathers gonna warm up enough to use sikaflex or tigerseal any day soon 😂👍

Good point about the tiger seal. Luckily I have a warm garage I can leave my 245 in once done. I used self tappers for the skirts too, as a belt and braces solution. Will order the diffuser shortly. It's all I need to finish my car off.

Think I may just bite the bullet, and sikaflex them on and use self tappers. Atleast then the sikaflex can go off whenever 😂😂 may check if there's anything else I can use which will cure in the cold ?

Sikoflex and tiger seal will cure in lower temperature but takes longer. Self tappers will secure it in place during the process.

I think that's what I'll do, and leave it in the garage with an oil filled heater on, best I can manage, as I want it sorted today, then I can sort out when i can lower it, and then it's all sorted and finished (kinda🤔😉)

Once you start modifying a car it's rarely, if ever, finished 😂

I've just spent an absolute fortune on my car if I'm honest, over the Christmas period,

19 inch extreme alloys.

New head unit and upgraded display.

New body kit.

Lowering springs.

After heated seats for my car and a few other bit which will come in time.

The Mrs ain't happy at the moment, or atleast wasn't until I bought her the m sport kit for her car 😉👍

Update on the fitment I spoke about. I wasn't massively happy with the flap on the back being not as tight and sturdy as I wanted, as it was only held on by the two outer clips, and it kinda bowed down in the middle, so I added two extra clips in the middle and drilled two extra holes. Now it doesn't sag in the middle and the fitment and sturdiness is 10 fold. So I'd advise anyone else to do the same as it fits alot better then.

much nicer than the original. I bought the original and didn't even fit it it was so poor quality, which really put me off maxton. Glad they have upped their game.

Reiger do the best skirts by a mile. i had the maxton skirts also but sold them on after switching to Reiger.

When I was searching about Maxton stuff, I held off for a while because of the fitment issues, after reading what you said about them, as well as a few others, but in the end, I went for it, because I think the reiger rear diffuser is too subtle, (extremely nice though) but the the original Maxton one was just too much, and when I saw this with the revisions to the exhaust peice as well so it didn't melt after people complaining about that as well, I took the plunge and I'm so glad I did.

I've got the reiger front splitter on, which I think looks amazing and better than any Maxton offering, and I've also got maxton side skirts to go on yet, but after seeing yours in gloss black, I'm not sure wether to go with those now. Looks amazing. How did attach your Maxton side skirts ? Self tappers or tigerseal or both ? May give them a go first as I have them, and if they don't look right get the reiger ones ? Can you get the reiger ones in gloss black or did you get them painted ?

Had my diffuser fitted for a few weeks now and it's started to deform around the exhaust tip. The extra exhaust sleave they supply is on but still heat has damaged it

Wow, that's not good. Mine is fine. Have you sent the pictures to the dealer?

I have. Also asked the same question above on a Facebook page and apparently I'm not the first to have this issue. Apparently it'd a known issue but they are still selling it.

Mine did the exact same too. It did it on the original and replacement, within days of them going on. Maxton replaced the first one but I've just left it now as it's never going to get fixed, shame really

Not good really. Couple people said it's to do with the angle of the exhaust tip extension. But iv fitted it as per the instructions so...

Hi all, im currently looking at one of these and have been advised by Maxton that the heat deforming issue is being looked into, but i can buy one if i want but without any option to return if it does deform. Has anyone that has this fitted got any more feedback or theorys about the cause of the deformation.

Thanks

I had two, one replaced under warranty, and they both did the same thing in the same place. The only solution would be, was to have the exhaust tips facing down towards the ground, but that's alot of extra work just for a splitter, at least that's the answer for the diesels anyway. It's a shame as it's a good splitter. You just need to direct the exhaust gases away from the splitter, either downward facing exhaust tips for diesels, or longer tips that get the gases further out through the exhaust tips, and not just heat the tips up so much they melt.

Hi guys, i have read all your comment regarding this issue, what I want to share with you is that recently I bought the diffuser from Maxton Design, and to not be in the same situation i decide to isolate the tips to stop releasing heat. For this I have used thermal insulating protective tape, and the diffuser look perfect without deforming the shape.

I will come back with some picture how it look the exhaust.
