LED Matrix highbeam adjustment

Featured Replies

Hi!

Now  the high beam is used a lot when driving. I have noticed that the high beam aims too high, meaning that a dark line appears between dipped beam and high beam. Has anyone else noticed this? Attaching a photo. Look at the right side, and you'll see what I mean.

When talking to my shop, they say, after consulting Skoda, that there is no way to adjust only the high beam. I find this hard to believe. A fried of mine had the same issue, but worse, with his brand new Kia Optima last winter (I know, another brand), but they managed to adjust the high beam.

When looking under the hood, theres only one adjustment screw, wich affects both beams.

Any VDCS wiz that has an idea?

Hi,

I live in Sweden and have the same issue and got the same response from my dealer/ workshop.

I found that (for me) the best solution was to lower the headlight.

Sure. The lowbeam gets a bit shorter, but the black stripe is getting less prominent and the height of the highbeam gets more in line of what I want.

The lower lowbeam doesnt irritate me too much since the matrix normally always is on.

But I agree that it is a cheap way to response and taking care of customers.

Då är vi tydligen två svenskar med samma problem, och med samma snygga färg på våra Superber om jag tolkar ditt användarnamn rätt 😁

Sorry about the Swedish. Apparently two Swedes with the same issue, and the same poor reaction from our dealers.

I still find it very strange that there isn’t some way to lower the high beam.

I noticed the same effect on my headlights. I think it's been there from the very beginning, it's just how our headlights work I think.

Adjusting the Hugh beam to be lower partiellt solves the issue.

Below is a ”before” image of the lights.

Will post an ”after” image som.

Hej på er,

Lånar tråden lite, hoppas det är ok.

I have a problem with opposite traffic flashing their full beams at me when I have the DLA on, especially on motorways. To me though they seem to be annoyed by the strong light more than being actually blinded as they mostly flash at me from far away.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Same for me but it stopped when I lowered the lights

How do I lower them?

Any updates?

I have a theory about the flashing... Modern headlights that instead of turning the high beam of, redirects it to where it's best suited keeps a high light output. Some people can't help them self from being drawn to look straight into the light of oncoming traffic, I myself sometimes do that when I'm a little bit tired.

Old style headlights doesn't blind when on half beam and you look at them from a distance, new smart headlights do blind when looking straight into them even if they are adjusted correctly.

This is just a theory based on my own experience of oncoming traffic during the "dark months".

I also sometimes get flashed when my car uses the adaptive function, they are adjusted correctly and the contrast between where the headlight focuses and the "darkened" area is so pronounced that you by eyesight can see that it doesn't "hit" oncoming traffic in the eyes - but looking straight into them surely will blind for a few seconds.

Does anyone know a proper aiming procedure that can be done at home with those white knobs for matrix headlights? There are also left-right adjusting knobs that may affect high beam assist working behaviour.

Mine does not dazzle oncoming vehicles and it is clearly visible the beam is heading down but as the headlights were replaced, it seems they haven't been aimed properly.

As far as I know in EU, the headlights should have 1% downwards, but for matrix it seems pretty complicated to follow the classic measurement because of the matrix sensor.

I know VAG has a dedicated aiming device but I would like to aim myself because most of the time they do not care about proper work done.

Does anybody knows the TPI from Škoda? A solution has been developed by the manufacturer for the dealer/ garages… Í have got the information today from a friend in the Czech Republic

Edited by rudineu

At least in Germany the TPI is 2061499. But I am not sure if this TPI is the solution because in the TPI just the normal adjustment procedure of the headlights is recommended.

What in detail has your friend told you?

Seems a new TPI for final (post)adjustment the headlights after delivering, my former colleague told me. Most beams are to high

Is the low beam for short distance or the high beam for longer distance to high?

Мой дилер Skoda отправил запрос в Skoda о том, как решить проблему, но ответа пока нет.

Be sure to let me know if there is a solution to the problem.
