Options for adding wireless Apple CarPlay?

Featured Replies

I understand that up until recently, CarPlay in the Superb has to be wired via USB and that only newer models get wireless Apple CarPlay.

I'm just wondering what options are available to add wireless CarPlay to a superb that only supports wired CarPlay?

I've seen options such as this on Amazon but at £169 it's not cheap

My wife has Wireless CarPlay in her Mini Cooper, and it's fantastic as you can just leave your phone in your pocket.

Are there cheaper options other than what I've posted above?

The best aftermarket device to use to add wireless CarPlay is the Cplay2air adapter. It’s on offer on there website for £96 at the minute.

Thank you @rmahon999, i've just ordered it!

I'm sure if it works as it should, it's money well spent.

Mine arrived today. Only used it a little, but setup was easy and seems to work really well.

Curious to know more about the experience. Convinced it works, but what are you experiencing as benefits or downsides vs wired?

I bought a short coiled lightning cable so easy to put the cable in, but also easy to close the lid.

And I dont always want to use CarPlay. Sometimes I prefer BT connectivity for use of internal satnav synced with contacts.

So what benefit does it bring, besides not connecting it?

Is the device in the way of the QI wireless charger of the car?

Mine is still stuck in Shenzhen

Been looking at this, where have you hid the adapter bit? Does it still fit under the cover and can you still use the wireless charging pad? (MY17)

It’s quite small so fits in the tray under the cover. It doesn’t effect the use of the wireless charger.

I have read various topics about wireless CarPlay dongles, but there is still unanswered questions and can't decide which one to buy, because there is a lot of them. I own Skoda Superb MK3, L&K 2018

1. Me and my wife have iPhone-s. We use Waze everyday. Is there wireless CarPlay dongle, where can connect 2 iPhone's and switching between them is simple ? As far as I know then at the moment it is pure pain to change phones...must unpair etc.

2. What is the fastest dongle to get CarPlay on screen, when sitting to car ?
