DPF removal on a 1.6tdi scotland

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Im just about to purchase a 1.6tdi elegance. I've previously had diesel cars and suffered the dreaded regen problems before. I want to remove the dpf and egr and get the mapping sorted. The car will not be staying in the uk so the M.O.T wont be a problem.

Can anyone reccommend somewhere in scotland to do this?

many thanks

Might be a guid idea tae tell us whauraboots ye stay.

I'm in Glasgow

If I was doing this I would first check whether the car has had the emissions fix.

If it has, revert it to original pre-fix software. You can find out if it has had the fix by entering its VIN in a check page on the Skoda site.

A quick check on the 1.6L is to see if it has a "flow straightener" in the air duct after the air filter. Remove it if you revert to standard ecu software.

So my best bet would be revert it back to the original software before getting the dpf/egr removed?

I am wanting to get rid of the dpf and egr and then a map, so surely it wouldn't matter if it's had the fix or not?  Or am I missing something..

Depends on the tuner.

Some will tweak the existing map so if it's had the fix, you might get some strange behaviour.

A decent tuner should remove the fix, dpf, egr and map at the same time.

You've not mentioned where the car will be used. You should check there are no regulations against emissions device tampering. Even more so as your post suggests it's going for permanent export.

thanks @langers2k. The car is going to be used on a greek island and there mot (kteo) isn't thorough in the slightest!

Yes, the extra wear and high failure rate of other components such as injectors. In some cases the engine had to replaced by Skoda under "trust building measures".

Probably not so much worry using it as second car or has been bought at a price were unreliability has been factored in.

Ok, thanks. It will be a main car and not a 2nd car. Ive just been informed by the seller that it's had the emissions recall done. Will a reputable tuner have the software to roll it back?

If you go to facebook page I quoted earlier, there is normally an advert on the right hand side for another group where you can find garages who will return the ecu to original software and other options.
