Engine blow by detected

Featured Replies

Greetings! I have a Kodiaq style 2.0 TDI 150 bhp and I have run around 21,000 Kilometers. Now when I check blow back compression by unplugging dip stick in diesel engine, I see smoke coming out of here. Is this something to worry about in a engine that has done just 21,000 kilometers? Please advice. The car is still under warranty and when I asked the Skoda service center, I was told that VW and Skoda engines have this blow back even for the new engines. Curious to find if that is indeed the case.

It's gases from the crank case and perfectly normal. You'll see the same from the oil filler if you remove the cap.

Thank you so much. Really helps and your inputs are highly appreciated.

Sorry to resurrect this - I've got coolant entering the oil somehow, as there is mail on the dipstick even after hot runs.

If I unscrew the oil fillet cap it dances around violently even at idle, I only get suction down into its seating at higher revs. I also have light smoke coming out with a definite pulsing.

I've run head gaskets block tests on the coolant system and it doesn't seem to be a head gasket failure, do you think the above is still consistent with normal diesel engines? I have the ns7 2.0 140/190 version.

Thank you in advance for any response... I'm literally tearing my hair out trying to find a solution and praying it's not excessive engine blow by. Cars 2018 with 60,000 miles on it and incredibly regular oil changes.

A wild guess, the water pump as the cause ?
