Sound insulation

Featured Replies

Is sound insulation really that good?

He is driving at 200kph and it sounds really silent when he speaks.

If it's a decent road I'm not sure I'd expect too much noise at that speed. Not like the engine is working too hard or anything.

Maybe it has optional acoustic glazing (I don't know the right word).

We have MK4 2.0 TDI 115hp with this option and the noise insulation is much better compared to Octavia MK3. Regarding the wind noise it's at least as good as MB C class (W205) if not better. The tyre/road noise insulation is better at Merc.

I’ve personally found wind noise is low at higher speeds but anything above 50mph and the road noise from tyres is very apparent especially when in the car by myself. When the time comes I will try a different tyre and maybe even a different lighter wheel setup
