Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDI 200 bhp thoughts?

Featured Replies

Hi all. New to this site as I have just ordered a Sportline 2.0 TDI 200 bhp end of December. I actually ordered this car without driving it. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the updated engine?

I ordered the same but style not sport line. Expect to get it end of next week. Will share my driving experience once I can actually drive it post lock down here in Cyprus.

Till then hopefully someone else will chime in.

Thanks Amar. Look forward to hearing your experiences and pictures when you get your new car

Dealer pushing me on this engine ..... current Kodiaq has the 190

Surprised they came out with new engine - 190 was a new design, must be some reason ... emissions or manufaturing cost ?

Since July 2021 (MY21) 190hp no longer exists. It has been replaced by 200hp.

Did you mean since July 2020?

The 200PS engine was developed by Audi for the A6 and it will appear shortly in a 4WD Octavia Vrs model in the Mk4.

We stayed in Paphos last October and really enjoyed Cyprus and the friendly people on the Island. :emoticon-0157-sun:

Out here we jokingly say that going to Paphos (from one of the other major cities) requires a visa :)

Yes, great country, fantastic people and superb beaches! Been here 20+ years now....

190 wasn't RDE2 compatible ( emissions ).  I haven't looked at the actual figures ( can't be ar5ed :D ) but it potentially means a huge saving in 1st year VED for UK buyers - depending on what model / spec you purchase.

For example 1st year VED under the 190bhp ( from 196 g/km ) will be £1850  whereas under the 200bhp ( from 175 g/km ) under RDE2 it'll be treated similar to a petrol car - i.e. £870.

Even tho the list price of the 200bhp may be higher, it's the RDE2 spec that'll be especially important to some folk.

Edit: I have looked.

Only direct comparison prices I have are from Oct '20 where you could order either a 190bhp or 200bhp Sportline. One downside to 200bhp is it allows less options to be added before you break in to the higher annual VED so that's important. In the case of the Sportline, I'm not sure you'd be able to add much to the basic car before having to pay £475 annualy for the next 5yrs as opposed to the more typical £150.  At least with the 190bhp you had some flexibility.
