Buying used Yeti TSI - Euro 5 or Euro 6 compliant?

Featured Replies

A London friend wants to buy a used petrol Yeti. She has been told by the local Skoda dealer she should buy a Euro 6-compliant model rather than a Euro 5-compliant model because the London ULEZ regime will, at some point, target Euro 5 compliant petrol vehicles, he claims.

A Euro 6 compliant model likely cost from £11k upwards while a cheaper Euro 5 compliant TSI Yeti is significantly cheaper. She would rather not spend more than £8k.

Is the dealer scare mongering? Should she save up for the Euro 6 model instead?

Thanks MM

Euro5 diesels (or lower) and petrol Euro3 (or lower) will be subject to additional charges to drive into London and some other UK cities later this year.

The Skoda specifications brochure shows petrol (and diesel) Yeti's being EU6 from May 2015.

Euro 6, my 2L diesel was the nicest car I have ever driven and was slightly more powerful than the previous one (Yeti)

The Add Blue was no problem

At some point I'd expect them ulez to ban euro 5 petrol cars. I'd also expect all petrol and diesel cars to be banned in the future 😉

As far as I'm aware, there are no plans to ban euro 5 petrol so it's fine for now depending how long she is likely to keep it.

Actual Londoners may know more 👍
