Does it have a sunroof?

Featured Replies

Further to my previous thread am I correct in saying that out of the SLX, Elegance and L&K only the later SLX came without a sunroof? Because I can't sit in the things with a sunroof, even with the seat right down my head brushes on the side. But a SLX with no sunroof has a good 2in of headroom clearance.

Greg.

I believe the slx, glx and one more where the pre facelift models. They then became classic, ambinette, elegance and at this stage they intriduced the L&K.

Elegance and above definitley had sunroof, classic didn't and I don't know about the ambnette did but i don't think it had one either.

Also don't know about the pre faclift models as that was before i was looking

A former colleague had a 110tdi SLX that did not have a sunroof.

Yep, the later SLX's don't have sunroofs. I *think* this change was introduced around september 1999.

Agreed

Again agreed. Classic & Ambiente didn't have (although it was an option at least on the Ambiente). Elegance & L&K did have. Can't remember about vRS

Interestingly, our 04 Octavia Elegance (MK1) does not have a sunroof (although it does have a nice wee spolier on the back).

How tall are you?

I'm 6ft1 and with the seat right down in my Elegance there is plenty of room

6'4 in my elegance and seat right down. Plenty of headroom.

The 04 elegance i have seen ahve sunroofs and no spoilers. Does it have all the equipment a MK1 elegance is supposed ot have or is it an estate etc?

There was little facelift in model year 1999, what includes:

- new style dashboard (GLX and SLX)

- green dashboard lights (all models)

- air conditioning instead of sunroof (SLX)

- front armrest (SLX)

Yep , very odd that as all the elegances should have had sunroofs.

Sounds like it could be someone trying to pass off a lower spec car as an elegance.

Did it have the 5 spoke alloys , climate control rather than manual aircon and front centre armrest?

6'4 and I can sit in any car, but I can't sit in it if I straighten my back half the time and I can't afford to slouch as I have had back trouble! ;-)

Generally if it has no sunroof I'll just squeeze in, though I can never see traffic signs/lights etc as the windscreen level (and indeed often the instruments through the wheel) are set for an 'average' person and tall people have their head effectively in the roof space meaning you are on a line with your eyes for the top of the windscreen thus your field of vision extends horizontal and down, rather than being able to look up a little like a shorter person can.

All Elegances and above (L&K) are supposed to have sunroof as standard. For all others (Classic and Ambiante) it was an option.

Guess there could possibly be some Elegances around where people may have speced from factory no sunroof (if this is possible???)

It was along these lines that we were so supprised by skoda when we were buying octy by the fact things like this were standard... dont get that with other makes at the time.

Initially the vRS also had no sunroof as standard in the UK, although it was possible to spec one later.
