Columbus Sat Nav - finding house numbers

Featured Replies

I’ve just bought a 68 plate Kodiaq Edition with Columbus console and trying to figure out the sat nav. I have updated it to the latest 2021 map, got Skoda Connect working and linked hotspot to my phone and now trying to find a destination.

If I put in the whole postcode in the satnav search bar it finds the road but there’s no option to enter a house number?

I’ve got the TomTom app on my phone and you just leave a space after entering the postcode, then enter the house number. Am I missing something on this satnav?

Many thanks

JB

I’ve met other GPS devices that ask clear questions, like Town, Street, House Number.

In various sequences.

The OEM Skoda system seems happy if you simply enter the address as you would write it, e.g. 21 Main Street, Anytown.

I always wary of simply entering a post code as it will often drop you in the general area.

I know my own post code would send someone to a dead end street within sight of my house, but in totally the wrong place.

ps - I still stick my Garmin on the screen for serious navigation duties, inc. much more data and route functionality - esp. MPH

No, I don’t think you’re missing anything - you can out the house number when entering the full address, but not when using the postcode.

I tend to enter destinations by voice: “enter postcode” sets off relevant questions for that, whereas “navigate to (town name)” sets off questions about the street and then about the house number.

Gee, a brave man :)

Long ago I tried - and gave up very quickly - talking to a car.  Absolutely no ****in' chance of making any sense.  Never again.

Give me big buttons every day.
