Ok guys before I get myself in the **** got to do an oil change just want to know the sump nut on my Skoda Octavia 1.5 petrol now this one is a 2019 model obviously a mark 3 does the sump nut have to be replaced and can you get the bloody washer off and replace it with a new one not a problem      just want to check I presume is like all the other cars of all before if you're very careful you can get one or two more uses out of it I would use a torque wrench on both the filter and the nut 30 Newton metres is about the right     ok guys is this washer resetted into the nut should I order a spare one it a question probably been answered 1000       time but I can't find the page up on the forums   on my old Vauxhall I had a rubber in set inside the nut only changed it once in 16 years are the sump aluminium or are they Steel is the nut aluminium just want to make sure before I get into it I always like to keep a spare oil filter and a sump nut just in the event of problems all advice would be much appreciated

Sump might even be plastic, as might the sump plug. Too new for my experience though. 

There's nothing quite like having a look though. Take a magnet with you, and you'll soon be able to tell whether it's steel or aluminium, if it isn't plastic.

I can't believe you would even ask such a question. Do you fart in a bottle and wear gloves hat and coat indoors to save putting the heating on. :biggrin:

To be fair I have had the same broom for the last 20 years. Only 10 new heads and 3 handles. You go ahead and use that sump plug again and again. 

Personally i have the engine oil to operating temp.

OIl cap off, dipstick out.

Use a pump to remove the hot oil, remove the filter and the sump plug and replace both. 

 

£3 for a new sump plug at the most.

@Diljit Can you please ensure that new threads aren't started when you already have existing ones regarding the same thing.

It makes for annoying reading - especially for the people who are able to help!
