problem with start/stop button

Featured Replies

Having problem with the start/stop button, having to press and hold for extended period or even keep pressing it to get car to start. anyone managed to sort this problem out

Are you talking about perol (as in ignature) or diesel engine?

Actually car`s ECU does everything for you. Including the period when glow plugs warm up.

All you have to do is press the button once and wait until the engine starts. No need to hold the button down.

My button started playing up like yours. Had it replaced under warranty before it ran out Think it may be a common fault.

My warranty is just out now. Popped into the Skoda garage today but they were not very help full told them the motor is on PCP and can go back now for change but they still wanted to charge me £95 just to do a diagnostic on it. Im a bit ****ed off why should i pay for the repair when its going back to them. If i was keeping the car i wouldn't mind.

It there some were i can purchase the button myself and fit it myself

I had SS button changed on my Superb 2 and the button cost was somtehing 20 euros plus the same amount for changing.

I would imagine TPS or dealer parts dept would be your best bet.

As nothing seems easy on modern cars, is a new start button just a straight swap or does it need coding afterwards ?

According to the various how to guides in other sections of this forum, it’s an easy straightforward swap with no coding required.

I can confirm that this is an easy swap, with no coding required. I followed a guide on here with no problems. You will need a T25 screwdriver. I got the button from Skoda-Parts.com last year for 46 euro including delivery, but if I was doing it now I would first send a message to https://www.coverdalecarparts.co.uk to see what price he could give me.
