Skoda Fabia 2012 - Turbo actuator fault?

Featured Replies

I've had the car for a year now. No problems and I love it. Took it in last week for MOT. It passed OK. On the way home EPC warning light came on (for 1st time) and it went into limp mode. I restarted engine and light went out. Drove OK. Took it back to Garage, they did their tests and say its a turbo actuator fault. The guy looked at it and mentioned something was loose and it shouldn't be. He said he should be able to replace that part and he'll check it out. He said he hopes it doesn't need the turbo replacing (GULP!!!!).

Last week I found and searched this forum and someone saying that Skoda say there's a backorder of about 6 months - so they ended up getting the part on Ebay.

Now I can't find this comment again. Can anyone advise? It's being collected by the garage on Tuesday.

I'd just like to be a bit more aware before they tell me how much it'll cost etc. etc.

Someone on here has made a thread of how to fix the common problem with that actuator and it’s relatively cheap and saves a full turbo replacement, I take it, it’s a 1.2 tsi ?

Yes it is.

HI there, I have just had a similar problem with my 2105 1.2 tsi spaceback,  epc light on then engine light on with serious loss of power.

When checking with VCDS there were trouble codes stored for turbo actuator mechanical problem  11824  p334b 10 -  11826   p334 036.

The actuator is attached with two 10mm spanner fitting nuts, I removed these which enabled me to draw the actuator back which then allowed me to work the rod in and out far enough to lubricate it and free it off, I refitted the nuts and cleared the codes from the ecu then road tested with no further problems yet.  This was only yesterday morning and it was really cold working outside on it so I didn't spend too much time but will monitor it and see what happens.

I am a retired mechanic after 49 years on the job but this could be easily done by anyone that can use a spanner.

I had a turbo actuator problem on a Superb last summer twice on one journey. I did some reading, gearing myself up to remove and clean parts, but after clearing the code with VCDS it never came back.
