Octavia navigation

Featured Replies

Hi all, first time skoda owner here and just taken delivery of an octavia 1.5 SE L.. After pulling what's left of my hair out getting to grips with the systems (getting old!) I've had a try to use the nav system.. I've noticed that it does not zoom in when approaching junctions and multiple lanes etc so is a "flat" i.e a fixed zoom.. Would this be normal as android auto works fine on the display with a much greater level of detail.. I've also tried to search for something simple like pets at home but it shows no results?

 The system says version 20.11.

Thanks in advance for any comments/help

I don't have your system but if it follows convention then the auto zoom will occur when you have an 'A' inside the magnifying glass. Click on the glass and you should see 'Auto' appear somewhere for you to activate it.

Hi thanks for suggesting that but there is no magnifying glass or +/-.. Tbh the display is a bit like when sat nav first came out and very basic but this may be how it is.

That sounds frustrating. Do you have an SEL first edition or a normal SEL? I have one on the way in May I wondered if the normal SEL does indeed having power folding mirrors. Can’t find anywhere definitively!

Hi I have the standard SE L and yes the mirrors do fold.. I think from watching the YouTube tutorials like everything today a lot of what you see on the infotainment relates to the optional extras.. Navigation seems antiquated compared to what you can do with your phone but it's a lovely car to drive..

Thanks for answering my completely unrelated question! Do you need the  travel assist option then to make the most of the sat nav? Have you tried android auto or CarPlay yet?

I've tried android auto and it works brilliantly with great definition. I've messaged skoda to see if there is something that I've missed with activating everything but on the connect app it shows as all being OK..

I know you can zoom in and out using one of the wheel controls which doesn't help as you don't want to keep doing that at junctions!

The Google Maps system seems a lot better - and having tried the car's nav the other day between a couple of villages it took me on a bizarre route and at one point tried to take me thorough a private estate/Horse stud farm!  Not sure how much I trust it now!

Hi thanks for the info, I just had the same issue being a few hundred yards from my house and being asked to turn round and go on a 2 mile round the houses route.. I'll stick with android auto I think and see if there are any upcoming updates
