Confused about Coolant

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 diesal Octavia VRS, I haven't had the car for long.

I always like to have a spare bottle of coolant handy so I bought a bottle of G13 coolant which is supposed to be the right one for the car but when it arrived it is purple.

The coolant in my car is red, all of the G13 coolant I can find online is purple.

I booked the car in today to get the timing belt and water pump done with a local independent and asked him the coolant. He said that my car does use the pink/red coolant but I can't find pink/red G13 coolant for sale anywhere.

Can anyone here confirm what I need to buy.

G13 should be more pinky coloured:

I think it's now been superseeded by G12 Evo:

They are compatible and can be mixed :)

So far as I can tell, the whole thing about G13 vs G12evo (or plusplus) is that G13 is more environmentally friendly. G13 was probably meant to work with the Silica Tbags that have been removed by lots of folk (to keep a good level of Silica in the coolant system). G12evo has more silica in it, so that will do the same thing. They are compatible with each other. Agree its confusing. Basically gone back to the old recipe with added coolant protectants.

Type G13 coolant into Google. Any number of pink 'uns pop up.
