*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Rear Wheel Bearing Info Needed!

Featured Replies

Hi all....again

I have a 2016 Octavia 4x4 150PS and I want to change both rear wheel bearings. I can't seem to find any info online, when I changed my rear brakes I ended up needing the more expensive larger 272mm rear discs (I assumed this was due to the 4x4). Now when I look for a rear wheel bearing Euro Car Parts offers me one to fit front or rear (276mm - 288mm discs) which both look to be front disc options and then another which fits front only (312mm - 340mm) which I assume is the VRS model versions.....

I can't seem to find any wheel bearing kit that will work with my 272mm discs at the rear?

Can anyone here help me source the correct wheel bearings?

The 4x4 Octavia is not the most mainstream of cars and some parts are specific to it and unlikely to be in places like ECP

Find the correct part number from a dealer or somewhere like here  then search for the part.

You are likely to need to go to a specialist like TPS (who may not sell to you if you are not trade) , online parts places like Autodoc (if you have time) or if all fails the stealers

The 312mm front / 272mm rear is on both 2wd and 4x4 and is fitted to many Octavias including some diesel vRS (and many other cars) The wheel bearing is not dependant on the disk size, that is dependant on whether you have 4x4. You can pretty much fit any disk on any bearing (at least on the Octavia)

Do you have the tools and info to do this? Is this not something best left to the pros?

Hi

Thanks for the info. That link is the thing I have been searching for and I appreciate the message. I am very experienced when I comes to working on vehicles, not just my own, however I have little to no experience working on "newer" vehicles (eg 2015 onwards) and in the same breath new VAG group vehicles. This 2016 Skoda is the newest vehicle I have ever owner myself (excluding company cars) and I really would like to maintain it myself, at home in my workshop. Tools are no issue (besides VAG specific ones I simply don't know are needed yet). I'm just not sure where to find the details about parts I need without calling a main dealer every 2 seconds.

I will take a look at the Febi stuff as I have been told they are quality parts and go from there. I have saved that link for the future!

If you are going to do that I would suggest you get on to Skoda erWin and for about £8 for an hours access you can download everything for your car. You can google links for manuals free a few places and there is still a sticky here but for the price I would get everything from the proper source for your chassis number while I was at it.
