Instrument-coding

Featured Replies

Hi!

I’m new in the Skoda-World (bought my first one in june last year), and have a small issue, which I just can’t figure out. 😞

The car is a 2009/2010 Octavia 1,6 TDI Greenline.

As soon as I start driving, the cars “Total km” changes to the actual speed in MPH. Beside that, the digital reading of KPH in the center of the display, doesn’t show.

The actual coding of the cluster is as you can see in the picture. Can anyone help me with the standardcode for the cluster??? 🙏🏻😊

As you can see in the picture, the car has no Maxidot-display, so from what I know, I haven’t got a menu in the cluster to change anything.

Welcome.

In future, you should post an autoscan rather than a picture :)

A quick google suggests most 1Z0 920 803 D clusters are coded as 110B00 rather than 110800. I think that would enable the brakepad and seatbelt warnings...?

Any owners manual suggests:

Quote

Knob for the selection of the mode (turn knob)/the setting (press knob):
› Setting the hours/minutes
Activating/deactivating the second speed in mph or km/h
› Service intervals - Display of the number of days and kilometres remaining until the next Inspection Service
› Reset trip counter for the distance driven
› Resetting Service Interval Display
› Activate/deactivate display mode

But I've no idea how to do it... Might be worth turning the knob and see what happens

The display as you have is the default. As your kms/hr display does not also have a mph ring, to meet EU regulations they have to show the mph elsewhere. They chose to use the location you showed.

This is the exact opposite of the UK spec cars where the speed ring only shows MPH and the small digital display shows kms/hr.

Annoyingly this solution is just so VAG can avoid having to dual mark the speed ring in kms/hr and mph, like other manufacturers.
