Driving Position - pedals DSG

Featured Replies

I have not done alot of miles since getting the Karoq in January, but I am finding it difficult to get my driving position correct.

The main problem is that I find that the accelerator pedal offset from the brake is too large. In my previous Volvo auto, you just rotated your foot from one to the other as they were on the same level, not in the Karoq, you have to lift your foot/leg back as the brake pedal is about 3/4" higher.

I find this wearing after a very short time. I have tried seat down, seat up, back and forward trying to get it into a comfortable position, but failed up to now. It is spoiling my impression of the car and the thought that I have another 4 years to go till the deal is finished.

In my previous Skoda Octavia MY12, the accelerator flap hinged at the bottom which was a bit strange but not like this.

Anyone else found this and any solutions. I have thought of looking for a pedal rubber for the accelerator to decrease the difference between them.

spell check

Can't recall ever reading anyone complain that the pedals are offset. I don't find my car different to any other I've driven.

I'd have thought the brake pedal being slightly higher would be done on safety concerns? You don't want to mistake one for the other, especially in an automatic.

In a similar thread last year I think the OP solved their issue but building up the carpet where their heel sat, rather than doing anything with the pedals.   I am a right leg amputee and drive standard 2 pedal cars but sometimes remove the accelerator pedal rubber.   @Scot5pretty sure you posted in the thread with the other member with the issue.

You have a better memory than me. Speaking of which, I can't remember if it was the XC40 I test drove prior to buying the Karoq or the XC60 I sat in prior to buying the Kodiaq, but I seem to recall there not being much footrest room between the left footrest and the brake pedal. My foot seemed to brush the pedal each time I lifted. Or was that the Renault? :D
