Oil Change - Filter & Plug?

Featured Replies

Time to change the oil on my Furby . . oh goody.

Can someone advise me please; is the standard Bosch or Halfrauds oil filter (of the appropriate fitting) suitable for the Furby PD100 diesel? Secondly, do I need a new sump plug, or is it just the washer? Presumeably the plug is only available from the stealers?

Ta,:)

I think the dealers are reasonably priced for both parts and would personally get both from them - Keep the reciepts with the car history too.

dont get halfrauds ones!

A few members on the 800 club have had problems with them, might just be car related but I'd go for OM parts.

In some cases the OM parts are cheaper than halfrauds!

The washer is now an integral part of the sump plug, ie both are changed together as part of an oil change.

Here are the prices (ex vat + incl vat) from my recent 20,000 service (Fabia vRS):

Cheers all. After those posts I decided to go and get OM filter (and plug of course) and get an appropriate oil from the other list (I assume I use the same oil as a vRS as the engines are very similar?), only to find out my stealership's parts counter closes at 12:30pm on a Saturday, re-opening 8:30 on Monday. Great, I'm at work from 7:30am to 6pm every day of the week. :( Have to wait until next week now.

Thanks for all the help though anyway! :)

Even people who work in dealerships deserve a satuday afternoon off you know.

 Sorry, I wasn't trying to be nasty about it. I was just comparing it to all the car parts shops I know that maintain standard 9-5:30 on a Saturday, as they do Mon-Fri.

There's still people there in the dealerships, it can't be that hard to fetch something off the shelf if given the appropriate part number surely?

The parts dept will be locked up by the parts staff when they leave. Its thier dept and thier responsability if anything goes missing etc.

Hmmm... It is often a problem when you can't get to a place during opening hours. I find that (assuming I know what I want) I can order and pay for things over the phone and have the dealers "put them by" under the counter for me to collect when the dealer is open even though the service dept is closed.

Incidentally, I've never had occasion to call either of the two Skoda garages I use "stealerships". Perhaps if you have a well founded grouse, you should use an alternative dealer.
