CARRY OUT DIESEL FUEL AND AIR CLEANSE

Featured Replies

Car going in for first service on variable service so 2 years old. Got quote over the phone which seemed a bit high, email confirmation shows a £40 charge for a CARRY OUT DIESEL FUEL AND AIR CLEANSE. Air cleanse I understand (and don't need) but what is the fuel cleanse?

It is recommended to have the fuel filter changed out every 2 years. Air filter will probably also need cleaning. Its particularly  important for cars that don't do mega miles to keep the filters clean. Short journeys are not good for diesels. What have you been quoted and which garage.

Spoke to garage. Fuel cleanse is an additive used to clean the injectors to ensure the spray pattern is good. For 40 years I've been advised never to put additives in the tank, is there something new?

It is a very profitable upsell for them which your 2 year old car does not need, not now, not in another 2 or 4 years neither.

Nor does it need a service of the Air Conditioning .

How much are they quoting and does that include the pollen filter being changed?

In green are the Prices for cars from 3-10 year old at Participating Dealers.   That is on cars on fixed servicing.

then the Oil & Inspection Service and Extended Scope at each 3 years items that are the jobs that they should be doing for the money charged.

Parts are extra.

Diesel Fuel Filter replacements were at the 2nd major service intervals by VW Group recommendations,

that was @ 4 years / 40,000 mile intervals not every 2 years.

They have changed that now.
